Question:
My activator two had been installed and working fine in my 1996 dodge ram for years with out any problem. Recently it will display a red dot when it is just sitting truck off, no trailer attached. This of course causes my brake lights to come on and will run my battery down. Also when a trailer is plugged in it will engage the brakes on the trailer with out Applying brakes. I can tap , squeeze or depress manual brake on the activator and this will temperely fix problem but it wont solve it. Is there any thing I can do short of buy a new one

The way your Draw-Tite Activator Trailer Brake Controller # 5504 is acting shows that you have a short somewhere, whether inside the brake controller or in the wiring going to or coming from it. I recommend testing the wires around it using a circuit tester like # PTW2993. This will help you determine if it is in the controller or the wiring.
