Question:
When I apply pressure to the brake petal, on the controller screen instead of numbers that I have the setting on all I am getting is the . symbol . No numbers

If all you are getting is a decimal point on your Draw-Tite Activator IV # 5504 when you press the brakes of your tow vehicle that means that the controller is not detecting the trailer's brakes.
Typically corrosion on the trailer connector causes this. Try cleaning the brake output post on both the vehicle and trailer connector to see if that fixes the problems. Aside from that you will need to trace the brake output circuit from the trailer connector back to the brake assemblies, fixing anything that could be causing the circuit to be open.
