Question:

I was wondering what type of bike rack would properly fit a 2009 Nissan Quest? Also, I have noticed some have a weight capacity or 100 lbs or so. I am sure that 2 adult bikes and one 20 inch child bike is over 100lbs...does that mean we should be looking at hitch type mounts instead? Thank you for your help.

The Thule Passage 3 Bike Carrier, item # TH911XT, is designed to work on the back of your 2009 Nissan Quest, and has a weight capacity of 105 lbs.

Most adult bikes weigh no more that 35 lbs each as long as they are not downhill bikes or beach cruisers, and most child bikes weigh around 20 pounds. This leaves 15 lbs left over with 2 adult bikes and 1 child bike.

A hitch and hitch bike rack is more convenient than a trunk mount style and will ease access to the rear of the vehicle when on riding trips. For your 2009 Nissan Quest, I recommend the Curt Class 3 Trailer Hitch, item # C13563, and the Swagman Trailhead, part # S63365. The hitch installs easily with no drilling required and the bike rack folds down away from the rear of the vehicle for easy access when out riding, see video link.
