Question:
Other than appearance, are there any particular advantages/disadvantages between the RS2500 Aero and the 2500 bars?

Expert Reply:
The Rhino-Rack 2500 Aero-style roof rack that consists of Crossbars # RRVA118B-2, Legs # RRRLKVA, and Fit Kit # DK195 is a traditional design.
The RS 2500 with Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRRS490 uses the aero bars which are much more aerodynamic than the square bars which reduces wind noise. In addition to the shape, the rubberized Vortex strips in the channels work to reduce drag and therefore cut down on noise. This system also sits flush with the legs so it has a more factory look to it than the square bars do.
Another difference to keep in mind is that some accessories do not fit certain bar shapes. So if you have a carrier of some sort that fits square bars and not aero bars, you want to choose the square bar rack.
