Question:

I have a 15 ft canoe. The 2017 outback has factory side rails. Yous have landing pads that will mount on top of the rails and replace the factory crossbars. If I remove the factory side rails, do you have landing pads that will mount in the gutter of the roof so I can increase the distance of the cross bars? If you do, do you supply the trim to fill the gutter?

I do have a solution for you, however we do not currently offer landing pads that can mount to the gutter of your roof after the factory side rails are removed on your 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon.

For your 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon that has factory side rails, I recommend the Rhino Rack Vortex StealthBar Roof Rack # JA7975. This will include two 30-7/8 inch, aerodynamic crossbars that will mount to the factory side rails on your Outback Wagon. They have a weight capacity of 176 pounds, although you will want to check the roof capacity as listed in your vehicle owner's manual. The minimum crossbar spread for this system is 27-9/16 inches.

Then to carry your canoe, I recommend the Swagman Exo Aero Carrier System # S65145. These saddle-style cradles can hold 1 canoe hull side down on the roof rack crossbars and it has a weight capacity of 100 pounds. Tie-down straps and bow/stern anchor ropes are included to secure it into place.
