Question:

I would like to pair the tracrac sliding rack with the backflip mx4 tonneau cover, but keep coming up with mixed opinions. The backflip chart shows that they are compatible and some expert responses state that they are. However I have read some statements that say the angled uprights on the rack will interfere with folding the cover sections. It seems as if the 4 section covers work better because the sections are shorter. Is the mx4 for a 2014 Ram 1500 64 inch bed a 3 or 4 section cover? Will the cover work with the rack? If no, will installing both racks on the outer track help with function of the cover. I am aware that bak sells a rack to go with the covers but I am not interested in that rack. The BAKFlip MX4 Tonneau Cover # BAK48207 is designed to work with accessories that are mounted into the stake pockets. And the TracRac SR Sliding Truck Bed Ladder Rack # TH43003XT-784 does install into the truck's stake pockets. So, they will install together; however, we've found that a lot of tonneau covers make contact with the tracks of the SR when trying to open them. The edges of the cover rub against the sides of the tracks damaging one or the other over time.

The MX4 # BAK48207, I mentioned, for your 2014 Ram 1500 is a quad-fold cover.

Another option for a tonneau cover is the BAK Revolver X2 # BAK39207. The Revolver sits approximately an inch or so further inside the side rails so there is more space between it and a ladder rack. Also since the cover rolls up instead of having the folding panels it's less likely to make contact with the uprights.
