In order for you to be able to use the Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera, part # HM50002 as a camera and monitor, you will need to cut the plug off the end and hard wire the system.
If you are going to use it for the front I recommend running the red wire to the battery and use a switch. You will need additional wiring like part # DW07550-1 to reach the switch inside of the vehicle. This is sold by the foot. You will also need to secure the white ground wire to a clean bare metal surface.
For a single pole/single throw switch for 12V DC systems I recommend part # PK34308. If you prefer a switch with a Red pilot light I recommend part # PK34360. These are rocker design switches. If you want a toggle switch for your lights I recommend part # PK34571.
You would attach one side of the switch to the red wire from the camera. Then run a wire from the other side of the switch to a 20 amp circuit breaker like part # 9506P, and complete the wiring by running a wire from the breaker to the positive battery post.
