Video Transcript for Pollak Wiring PK34360 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number PK34360. This is the Pollack Universal-Design 12 Volt 20 Amp 3 Blade Rocker Switch with a Red Pilot Light. It's going to feature a black nylon bezel and housing with a red pilot light as well as a nylon actuator, and solid brass blade terminals. The width of these terminals, that's going to measure 1/4 of an inch. This system is a universal design for automotive truck, bus, marine, and RV applications. It's going to feature snap-in mountings, so you've got the snaps here on the top and the bottom that once installed is going to hold the rocker switch firmly in place.

When it comes to the panel sized cut outs, this is going to fit approximately 7/8th of an inch wide by 1 1/2 inch tall panel cut outs. When it comes to the thickness that those panels can be, it's going to range from 3/36nds of an inch to an 1/8th of an inch to 3/16ths of an inch. Anything with those measurements is going to fit fine. When it comes to the volts it's going to be rated at 12 DC volts with a 20 amp direct current. The width of the terminals, again, is going to measure 1/4 of an inch, and it's going to have on/off circuitry, so 2 functions there. On and off.

Again, you're going to have the 3 blade style terminals. The measurement that I want to give you is the face measurement here on the outside of the rocker switch. Overall length, edge to edge, that's going to give us a measurement . We have about 1 3/4 of an inch. The overall width measuring from edge to edge, that's going to give us a measurement of about 1 inch.

That's going to do it for our review of part number PK34360. This a Universal-Design 12 Volt, 20 Amp, 3 Black Rocker Switch from Pollak. .

Installed lighted switch on my hot water pump solar panel. It’s a great way to see if there is enough sun for the circulation pump to operate 683585

I think the price could’ve been a little better but it is what I needed. I went to another site and they tried to charge me a minimum of $25 whether I spent that much or not just to get the same button and it was like $14 for 1 button and that was not including the $9 shipping! Completely outrages so I’m glad I found this one:) 553784

Excellent product. Feels good, not like cheap plastic. Didn't come with any instructions, but that wasn't a big deal. Works perfect for what I needed. 448286

  • Which Pins of the Switch Part # PK34360 Are for Each Circuit
On the back of the # PK34360 the terminal in the corner with the pin next to it is the power pin, the one right next to it with the silver rivet is the ground. The light terminal is the one opposite of those two in the other corner. I attached a picture that shows the terminals pointed out.

  • Wiring Multiple Heater Pads to an On/Off Switch
For starters, I have attached a photo of how the Universal-Design Rocker Switch part # PK34360 should be wired. However, I believe the issue you are having is in regards to the size of wire used. The correct size or (gauge) will vary depending on factors such as amp draw and length of wire. The wires running from the heater to the splice can be anywhere from 16 gauge - 10 gauge depending on length. However, once the three heater wires are spliced together and traveling to the switch...

  • Parts Needed to Add Interior/Exterior Lights and a Battery to a Trailer
I have attached a basic wiring schematic for a travel trailer for you to check out. We don't have anything that would be more detailed than this but you would basically just splice into the wiring on your trailer depending on how you want your exterior and interior lights to work. Aside from the wiring and lights there are a few other things you will need. The switch that you use will depend on how much draw you expect to have, which is determined by the amount of lights you have and...

  • Recommended RV Observation Cameras That Can Be Used As Security Cameras
We have just the system you are look for. I recommend the Furrion Vision S Wireless RV Observation Camera System w/ 3 Marker Light Cameras - 7" Screen # FR94FR which has a camera for each side to replace a clearance light, and a camera for the rear of your 2008 Cyclone 3795 which also replaces a clearance light. This system requires wiring for power, but wirelessly communicates with the included 7" monitor allowing you to view all 4 cameras at once for security, or towing purposes. If...

  • How to Wire the ThermaHeat RV Holding Tank Heater Pad To an On/Off Switch
There are two wires coming from the ThermaHeat RV Holding Tank Heater Pad part # 277-000164. There is a red wire for the 12 volt power and a white wire for the ground. This heating pad draw's 4.8 amps of power. Therefore, if you will be attaching three of these to a single switch then the switch will need to be rated for 14.1 amps (4.8 x 3). For a switch, I recommend using the Universal-Design Rocker Switch part # PK34360 which is rated at 20 amps and will be sufficient for three of...

  • Why Did Wires to Rocker Switch Melt When Installing Heating Pad
If the wire from the battery to the Universal-Design Rocker Switch # PK34360 melted when installing the ThermaHeat RV Holding Tank or Step Heater Pad w/ Thermostat # 277-000163 it may have been that you simply need to use thicker wire, and I recommend 10 gauge # 10-1-1. A lot of things may have come into play to cause this short, particularly the length that the wire needed to be run. It could also have been something as simple as damaged wiring or a loose connection which caused the...

  • Will the Universal-Design Rocker Switch With Dual Actuators Install In a Standard Switch Cutout
The Universal-Design Rocker Switch part # PK34312 is a dual actuated switch that gets installed in a 0.830" wide x 1.450" tall cutout which is a very common size. Therefore, yes the above will install inside a standard 12 volt rocker switch cutout. For reference, the Universal-Design Rocker Switch part # PK34360 is a single actuated switch that gets installed in the same 0.830" wide x 1.450" tall cutout as the above. The Female Spade Terminal Quick-Disconnect part # DW01899-1 is what...

  • Wiring and Spade Connectors for Switch for ThermaHeat RV Holding Tank Step Heater Pad
The ThermaHeat RV Holding Tank or Step Heater Pad w/ Thermostat # 277-000163 only draws 4.8 amps so you can get by with thinner gauge wire like 16 AWG which we sell by the foot with # 16-1-1. For spade connectors to go from the wire to the switch # PK34360 you could then use the # RM-300115-00 and you'd be set.

Kat's says their Silicone pads like # KH23075 will get hot enough they warn that they can burn a person or melt an item that cannot withstand that heat. They however do not give a temperature for that 75 watt model. That is the only 12V option the rest run on 120V and there is one that is larger at 5-1/2 inches by 8-1/2 inches that is 500 watts and claimed to run between 300 and 400 degrees. Unfortunately the questions you are asking about timing, temperature, and consumption can't...

  • Installation of RV Holding Tank Heater Pad to Trailer Battery
The ThermaHeat RV Holding Tank Heater Pad w/ Thermostat # 277-000163 can be run directly from your trailer battery if you use an in-line fuse or in-line circuit breaker like # 9506P. Most people utilize a switch like # PK34360 and # 16-1-1 wire sold by the foot to give an on/off option so you don't drain your battery when you don't need the heater on.

  • Recommended 12V Switches To Replace Interior Light Switches
i have attached a link to the switched we offer that may work for your light switch. For a single pole/single throw switch for 12V DC systems I recommend part # PK34308. If you prefer a switch with a Red pilot light I recommend part # PK34360. These are rocker design switches. If you want a toggle switch for your lights I recommend part # PK34571.

  • Troubleshooting ThermaHeat Heater Pad Not Operating on Sensor Power Wire
You are probably overloading the circuit with both the sensor and the ThermaHeat RV Holding Tank or Step Heater Pad # 277-000163 on it. We recommend connecting the heater pads directly to your battery for power so that it is the only thing on the circuit (unless you were to connect more than one heater pad). If you want to be able to control when the heater pad is on separately from the thermostat then you can install the Universal-Design Rocker Switch # PK34360 on the power wire between...

  • When Does Switch Light of Rocker Switch PK34360 Turn On with ThermaHeat RV Holding Tank Heater Pad
If you used the Universal-Design Rocker Switch part # PK34360 and wired it to the ThermaHeat RV Holding Tank Heater Pad part # 277-000163 like the attached diagram shows the red light will be on anytime the switch is on regardless of if the thermostat. Basically as long as the pads have power the light will be on and then the thermostat will do what's it's designed to do without affecting the switch light.

  • Can Hopkins Backup Camera be Wired Directly to Battery Using an On/Off Switch
What you can do is attach the power wire for the backup camera # HM50002 to the running light circuit so that you won't have to run any wires or install a switch. Then to operate the camera you would just turn on the running lights. Now, this method will turn the camera on any time your head lights are on so at night it would be on all the time. Just turn the monitor off in that situation! The wiring is not very large gauge with this camera so at most I would say use 16 gauge wire,...

  • Adding ThermaHeat RV Holding Tank Pad to DC Fuse Panel
Yes, you can use two of the ThermaHeat RV Holding Tank or Step Heater Pad # 277-000163 connected to your DC fuse panel. You could do this with both pads running to individual switches, or if you wired them in parallel you would only need to use one switch, such as the Universal-Design Rocker Switch # PK34360, because the pads draw 4.8 amps and this switch is rated for 20 amps. Essentially, so long as your switch is rated for the appropriate amperage you would run the wire from the fuse...

Yes, the trucks could have been wired different in which the trailer connector still receives power while the truck is off. If it is wired directly to the battery then it will receive power constantly but if it is tied into a powered switch then it would only receive power while the ignition is on. If you would like to cut power to the vehicle's 7-way when the vehicle is off then you will need to install...
