If I remove snap fitting will I leak coolant from radiator

If the Snap-In fitting, item # D13035, or the OEM transmission line snap fitting is removed from the radiator on your 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, you will leak some transmission fluid that will need to be replaced. You will not leak any anti-freeze because the fluids are not mixed. The anti-freeze coolant is circulated around the outside of a small transmission cooler that is installed in the radiator tank.

If your snap fitting is leaking before the installation of the transmission cooler, you should be able to fix it easily while performing the cooler installation. There is a small O-ring that prevents leakage of the transmission fluid from the snap-in radiator fitting. You should be able to obtain one of these at a local auto parts store. If not you could remove the original o-ring and get one at a local hardware store.

You may also want to consider installing a transmission fluid filter, item # D13090, inline while you are servicing your truck, especially if you are towing trailers close to the trucks capacity. The transmission filter kit will increase the fluid capacity of your system for better cooling and keep contaminants out of the system for increased life and performance.
