I am including the installation instructions for the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit, part # RP30035. This part is the universal base rails and mounting brackets that will be installed on your 2008 Dodge Ram. This part will allow you to attach the fifth wheel slider to your vehicle.
Also, I am sending the installation instructions for the Reese Fifth Wheel 16K Head # RP30047 and part # RP30048. This part is the slider that the fifth wheel head would attach to and allow the head to move 10 inches closer to the tailgate of your vehicle for clearance when using a 6 foot short bed vehicle.
I would also recommend using a custom install kit that will cut the installation time in half compared to the universal kit # RP30035. It uses vehicle specific brackets that will mount to existing holes in your vehicles frame which will minimize drilling and measuring. If you can let me know the exact model of your 2008 Dodge Ram (1500, Mega Cab ) I will be able to recommend the correct custom install kit for you and send you the installation instructions for that kit.
