Question:
Can I tow a fifth wheel with the 5 1/2 foot bed of my truck

Expert Reply:
Yes, you can tow a 5th wheel trailer with your 2005 Ford F-150 with the 5-1/2 foot bed but it will require either a specific 5th wheel trailer hitch or a fixed (non-sliding) hitch and a replacement Sidewinder pin box if one exists for the factory pin box on the trailer. The easiest solution and least expensive is to go with the specific hitch, the Demco 13K HiJacker, # DM8550041.
This hitch can travel 22-1/2 inches and it does so automatically. It fits a custom under bed mount, # DM8551001. I have linked a video review of the hitch for you.
