Wire Colors for Installing Brake Controller in a 2016 Chevy Colorado
Published 10/11/2016 >
Question:
Read your post on hooking up a prodigy brake controller. I purchased the Curt controller OEM from my Chevy dealer. I assumed the wires would match/hook up blue to blue, red to red, blk to blk and white to white. Is this not correct. Or Should my pigtail wiring match the description you gave for the Prodigy pigtail?

Expert Reply:
The colors of your Curt brake controller would match up to the wire colors of your 2016 Chevy Colorado like this:
Black pigtail wire (brake controller wire) connects to red/green tow package wire (12-volt to brake controller)
Red pigtail wire connects to white/blue tow package wire (stop lamp switch to brake controller)
White pigtail wire to black tow package wire (ground connection)
Blue pigtail wire to blue tow package wire (output from controller to trailer brakes)
