For your 2009 Honda Pilot I recommend the T-One Wiring Harness, part # 118491. This simply plugs in to the connection point behind the trim panel in the rear cargo area on the driver side and under the vehicle on the driver side. This will give you a 4-way connector at the back of your Pilot. For most light towing of trailers without brakes the 4-way connector is all that is needed.
A 7-way is typically used when you are towing a trailer that has brakes installed which would mean you also need a brake controller like part # 90885.
To add a 7-way to your Pilot you would need part # ETBC7. This would plug into the 4-way and additional wiring would need to be run as shown in the attached drawing. After the installation of the # ETBC7 you would have a working 4-way and 7-way at the back of your Pilot.
When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
