tekonsha voyageur on a 2005 Ford F-150. I have green led. When I depress brake pedal red light does not come on. trailer brakes dont either. I can manually get brakes to work with slide switch and at that time red light comes on. Why wont brake pedal engage the trailer brakes?

The issue is related to the red wire of the brake controller. It needs to be connected to a circuit that only sees voltage when the brakes are applied and none when released. This is what tells the controller that you are applying the vehicle brakes and to begin sensing deceleration and start applying braking power.
Check the condition of the connection of the red wire as well as what circuit it is attached to.
