In order to get a square receiver for y our 2009 Ford F150, you'll need to install a frame mounted receiver hitch. The good news is we have a Class IV available as part # C14002 that has a 10000 towing/1000 lb tongue weight capacity for a reasonable price.
Once the hitch is installed, you'll have additional capacity up to the towing capacity of the vehicle. You'll also be able to use a ball mount that will put your trailer at the proper height so it'll tow level.
The FAQ article I've linked shows how to determine the rise/drop ball mount you'll need. If you plan on towing different trailers, using an adjustable ball mount like # C45900 would be a great idea so you can adjust up to 5 inches of rise or 6 inches of drop to get your trailer as close as possible to level.
I've also linked you to an install video showing the hitch I recommended being installed.
