The Kuat Sherpa 2.0 # SH12B bike rack you looked at is an excellent bike rack that's very easy to use. At around 30 lbs, it's one of the lightest bike racks of its type we offer. Platform bike racks like the Sherpa are favored by many because the bikes typically don't need to be lifted as high for loading as a hanging type bike rack, so loading the bike is easier for somebody with limited upper body strength.

If a super-light weight rack is of the utmost importance, Kuat makes a hanging style rack, the # B202-114 Beta that weighs just under 13 lbs. The rack is dramatically less expensive than the Sherpa, but it also lacks many of the features of the Sherpa such as the ability to tilt away from the rear of the vehicle with the bikes loaded on the rack and the ability to fold the rack up flat against the rear of the vehicle when the rack isn't in use.

Which rack is best for you will depend on what features are most important to you. If having a light weight rack is most important, the Beta would be the way to go. If a light weight rack that has tons of features is important, go with the Sherpa 2.0.
