Purpose of Small Plastic Lever on Top of Prodigy P3 Brake Controller

Question:
What is the small plastic snap in top thingee on the P3. What does it do it seems like it can fall off ... strange what is it?

If you use the mounting bracket designed for easy removal and installation that comes with the Prodigy P3 part # 90195 the piece you referenced is what is used to quickly separate the controller from the bracket.
I attached a review video for more info on this controller for you to check out as well as a picture that points out the lever I referred to.

I had the same question and know the little triangle piece has a small hole the lever snaps in, but why the hell was that hole not part of the normal case? Why did they add this extra piece that doesn't sit flush and, like John said: barely holds on to the case. The triangle snaps into the case with tiny little protrusions that easily break. It's almost like someone was high when they designed it. Is it really just for the bracket to snap onto? Was there a different use for the indent in the case before and they then added this extra piece just for the bracket?
