When u press the brake pedal the the controller flash numder the goes to a dot?

Sounds like you have a dirty trailer connector that is making an intermittent connection. The dot indicates that the controller is not detecting a trailer connected. This is pretty common when the trailer connector is dirty with corrosion. Try cleaning the connector on the trailer and vehicle and it should start working again.
