Can a Deep Crossover Toolbox be Used in a 2012 Toyota Tundra

Updated 03/21/2016 | Published 03/18/2016

Question:

What is it about this model of toolbox which prevents it from being compatible with a 2012 Toyota Tundra double cab 6.5foot std. bed? It has the same length and width dimensions as the DZ8170B, which IS listed as compatible, and my Toyotas bed has about 6 inches more vertical clearance than would be needed to accommodate this boxs extra height depth. The wheel well position is not an issue, either, and my bed rail width is 62.75inch which, as compared to the DeeZee web sites dimension specs below, should give me a solid 1inch of clearance on either side relative to the length of the lower box section listed there as L1 - 60.75. So what am I missing about this toolbox model not being a good fit, for ANY model of Toyota Tundra, it seems? Thanks! LOW PROFILE EXTRA DEEP STORAGE DESIGN L: 69.75inch x W: 20inch x H: 18.25inch Vol: 11.7 cu. ft. L-1: 60.75 W-1: 17.125 H-1: 2 W-2: 1.44 H-2: 13.25

If you have the space for toolbox # DZ8170DLB then you can use it. Box # DZ8170DLB technically is 6.05 inches taller than box # DZ8170B so if you don't have enough vertical clearance then you would need to put some sort of spacer between the tops of the bed sides and the bottom of where the box rests on the bed sides to compensate.
