I am moving my hitch from a 2008 silverado to a 2014 sierra. any tricks or things I need to know?

Fifth wheel hardware is considered one time use. If you have Reese, Draw Tite, or Pro Series universal rails (sounds like you do), then you would need new hardware part # 58164.

Your best solution is going to be to go with a new set of hardware custom fit to your new truck like part # RP50066 as this kit is custom fit for your truck so install time will be minimized as well as drilling.
