Best Setup for Transporting 14 foot Kayaks on a 2013 Toyota Tacoma

I want to put a Thule roof rack on my 2013 Tacoma Double Cab to carry two 14 foot kayaks. The instructions for the kit that would fit seem to indicate that the bars need to be 26 inches apart. Isnt that too close together for a kayak of that size? Is that a recommendation or can I move them further apart? Any other reasonable options for a roof rack? Thanks.

For transporting 2 14-foot kayaks I have a better solution than a roof rack that would only have a 26 inch crossbar spread.
Instead I would recommend the Rhino Rack setup that comes with a single crossbar and a hitch mounted upright for transporting your kayaks. You would need part numbers # RRVA137B, # RRRLKVAH, # RTL002, and # DK046H.
