Tow Package Wiring Location for Brake Controller Install - 2016 GMC Canyon

Question:
I have a Prodigy P2 brake control. I use with a 2008 Saturn Outlook. I recently purchased a 2016 GMC Canyon SLT with factory installed 7 way. Will the 3026-P work with this vehicle? Where is the factory installed receiver the harness will plug into? I believe I have seen where it is not under the dash, but behind the left side kick panel, please confirm.

According to my research, the 2016 Colorado/Canyon with the factory 7-way won't have a plug under the dash for installing a brake controller, but there will be bare tow package wires that you can wire the brake controller directly to. The tow package wiring is located behind the left kick panel, as you suspected. The wiring pigtail that came with your brake controller would wire up to the tow package wiring as follows:
Black pigtail wire connects to red/green tow package wire (12-volt to brake controller)
Red pigtail wire connects to white/blue tow package wire (stop lamp switch to brake controller)
White pigtail wire to black tow package wire (ground connection)
Blue pigtail wire to blue tow package wire (output from controller to trailer brakes)
I'll link you to a photo showing exactly where the wiring is located, as well as to a photo showing where all the tow package fuses are located. The fuses are already in place.
