Question:
Im interested in the Curt #12060 trailer hitch for my 2010 Ford Escape. I wont be towing its just for a bike rack. Ive read where some models of trailer hitches are not for the Escape if it has the exhaust dampener and mine has it. This model doesnt reference anything about the dampener. Does this model just bolt on even if the Escape has the dampener?

Yes, I spoke with my contact at Curt Manufacturing and the Curt Class II Round Tube Trailer Hitch Receiver with Drawbar, item # 12060, is designed to work with all models of the 2010 Ford Escape. The hitch is designed to work around the exhaust dampener on your vehicle.
One suggestion I would make is that a Class III hitch will give you more bike rack options and will also provide added weight capacity if needed in the future for items such as a cargo carrier or towing. The price difference is minimal for the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch, item # 13650, and the added versatility may come in handy in the future.
