Based on what you stated it would sound like the trailer wiring harness converter box you have installed on your 2009 Kia Sedona has shorted out and is in need of replacing. What you described doing is the correct way to test a converter box for being functional.
For a new trailer wiring harness you would want the part # 118410.
Before you replace it you will want to inspect the wiring of your trailer to see if you can find anything that would cause the box to short out like corrosion or cut/exposed wiring. These boxes don't usually go out unless there is a short on the trailer that takes it out.
