Does O2 Port Face Up or Down on MagnaFlow Stainless Steel Catalytic Converter 94139
Published 08/01/2015 >
Question:
This universal Converter 91035 by Magnaflow has the heat shield stepped off on the side of the O2 port. The other side seems to be part of the body of the converter. Should the O2 port be up or down? Some say the shield is to protect the inside of the car, others say it is to stop dry grass etc. from catching fire under the car.

Expert Reply:
The O2 sensor port on most vehicles points up as it appears in the picture for # MF94139. Heat shields on vehicles are placed so as to protect the vehicle from excessive heat. You usually see them near gas tanks or gas lines or non-metallic body panels.
