Question:
I am interested in a trailer hitch and wiring setup for my 2008 Jeep Liberty. I have the tow/haul button on the console by the shifter. I am wondering about pulling a trailer that requires the brake control and what my options are in regards to that. I did see the hitch setup and wiring harness recommended for my vehicle but just want to know about that as well. Thank you.

If the available hitch alternatives for your Liberty, I'd recommend the Curt Class III hitch, part # 13245. All the Class III hitches for you Liberty have the same capacity and would install in the same manner. Because the quality of the Curt hitch is on the same level as the other hitches, you won't sacrifice anything by going with the lower cost Curt hitch.
For trailer wiring, I'd recommend the Tow Ready # 118554, which would provide a 4-pole trailer connector. This will provide you with the basic lighting functions for the trailer.
To install a brake controller, you'd first want to choose the controller itself. I'd recommend a proportional style controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885 for the safest, most predictable braking action. To install the controller, you'd need our Brake Controller Installaetion Kit, part # ETBC7.
I've linked you to the installation instructions for the install kit, an install video showing a controller being installed on a 2008 Liberty, and some FAQ articles about brake controllers that you might find helpful.
