Replacement 25 Inch Long Leaf Spring for Boat Trailer w/ 3500 lb Axle

Updated 06/23/2015 | Published 06/21/2015

Question:

Hello- I am looking at this spring to replace corroded springs on my boat trailer. The trailer capacity is 3500 lbs. Current spring is four leaves and approximately 3-1/2inch from centerline of mounting bolts to bottom of spring where it rests on axle. When I measure the spacing from bolt to bolt, I get 25. I measure centerline to centerline of the bolts. Doesnt seem like anyone on the internet has a spring with a 25inch spacing. The e54SR is 25-1/8inch spacing. Do you have any suggestions to help me find a spring to replace mine? Can the e54SR be adapted or pre-loaded so that it will fit? Thanks

Because trailer springs flatten out over time, it's not always easy to find a replacement by measuring the old springs. If you put the trailer up on jack stands or a lift so that the axle is suspended, and then get your measurement.

Boat trailer manufacturers like to use a lot of proprietary parts so folks will have to come to them for parts. It's possible that your spring is one of those. You can easily get the # e54SR to work, but you'll need to use a longer shackle strap to account for the 1/8 inch length difference. If your current shackle straps are 2-5/8 inches (center hole to center hole), go with a 2-3/4 inch strap like part # TRSL275.
