Question:

Your 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500 has a port that you can plug a brake controller into. It is under the dash, driver's side, near the back of the floorboard (forward on the vehicle). You would need wiring harness # 3025-P to plug in a Tekonsha brake controller. Or, if your controller doesn't have a plug on the back of it you would use # 3025-S and wire it up color for color to the back of the controller.
There may be some additional connections that will need to be made under the hood to make everything fully functional. I have included a link to a help article that covers this and a brake controller installation in general on your truck.
