Question:
How to clear ol warning from my I stop controler

Expert Reply:
I spoke with my contact at Draw-Tite and he said the only way to clear the overload warning on your Draw-Tite Activator IV Trailer Brake Controller # 5504 is to correct the problem causing the message. The OL (overload) message usually indicates that the unit has detected a short in the brake output circuit, the circuit commonly carried on a blue wire.
You'll need to trace the trailer's brake circuit wire and check the wire for signs of worn or cracked insulation all along its length, from the trailer connector to the brake assemblies, looking especially at spots where the wire has to bend and where it may come into contact with sharp edges of the trailer frame. Repair or replace any damaged insulation/wire using at least 12-gauge wire (10-gauge is okay too). We offer part # 10-1-1 for this purpose; it is sold by the foot.
If you do not find any issue with the brake circuit wire then you can move on to the wiring for the brake assemblies themselves, again looking for any damage to the wires and their insulation.
I attached installation instructions for # 5504 for you to check out that also has a troubleshooting chart for you to check out, as well as an FAQ article on trailer wiring.
