Brake Controller and Wiring Harness for a 2016 Toyota 4Runner with Factory Tow Package
Updated 05/15/2015 | Published 05/14/2015 >
Question:
I bought a new trailer with electric brakes so I need a brake controller. My 2016 4runner already has the tow package, hitch, and 7-pole plug so I just need the controller and whatever pigtail to plug it in.

Since your 2016 Toyota 4Runner already has the factory tow package and trailer connector then adding a brake controller will be easy. I recommend the Tekonsha P3 brake controller # 90195 because it has multiple presets for towing different trailers, a boost feature, works with electric over hydraulic and electric braking systems, and has easy to understand diagnostic messages.
The only other part you will need is wiring harness # 3041-P to plug it directly into your 4Runner. I have linked video reviews of the wiring harness and brake controller for you.
