Is a Gap Under the Install Bracket of the Swagman J Kayak Carriers OK
Published 04/24/2015 >
Question:
Bought these J racks with the kayaks and when I put them on the factory cross bars of my 2007 Honda CRV, there is a large gap on the underside of the clamp. Shape of crossbar is wider than opening on the rack. After tightening, they seem secure with the clamp balanced on the crossbar. Will be traveling six hours next week bringing the kayaks home. Wondering with this gap will kayaks be secure on the roof or is there something I can do to make the fit better?

The gap you described (and is visible in your picture) would not be an issue for the Swagman Kayak Carrier part # S65148 that you have installed on your 2007 Honda CRV crossbars. All that really matters is that you were able to get the bracket around the crossbar and securely tightened with the installation hardware. It may seem odd looking but you should be just fine.
For peace of mind you might check the tightness of the hardware periodically on your road trip.
