Question:
Hello, if I have a trailer with surge brakes what do I need in trailer wiring in order to make this work?

Expert Reply:
Most likely a trailer with surge brakes will have either a 4-way or 5-way connector. A 4-way will provide all of the turn signal functions for the trailer and a 5-way would be for if the surge actuator has a reverse lock out solenoid. Either way you will need to start with a 4-way like part # C56184 for if you don't have the tow package, or part # C56332 for if you do.
If you do need a 5-way you will then also need the part # 20036 to add the fifth circuit. The additional wire of this harness will get run to the reverse light circuit of your vehicle like in the install video I attached.
