How Does the Tow Ready Interchangeable Hitch Ball Work

Question:
Is there any danger of the ball locking mechanism unlocking in transit? I tow horses occasionally and that would be devastating to say the least.

Great question and very understandable because you are carrying precious cargo.
Barring any type of catastrophic manufacturing failure, you won't have any issues with losing a trailer because to lock the hitch ball # 63802 in place, you will push the slotted locking button down and turn it clockwise to lock. See the picture I included.
If the locking mechanism was to be released while carrying your trailer, the slotted button is recessed enough that it should not hit the trailer coupler when traveling. If the slotted button was to come unlocked, the coupler will not allow it to come all the way up to release the hitch ball. I went to our warehouse to pull this part to test it myself and even using my finger to depress the slotted button, the hitch ball will not come undone.
I made a short video for you too.
