Since the trailer functions correctly on your Nissan truck but then blows a fuse once connected to your 1998 Toyota 4Runner, it sounds like there is a short circuit somewhere on your 4Runner.

When troubleshooting, I always recommend starting off by checking the 4-way connector. Make sure that it is free of dirt and corrosion.

Next, make sure that the ground wire on the 4Runner is securely grounded to a clean metal surface and that all of the wiring for the connector is in good condition. Any frayed or pinched wires touching metal will need to be fixed.

I have attached a help article which cover some additional troubleshooting steps for wiring installations that you may want to take a look at.

If you find that all of the wires check out to be fine and the trailer is still causing the fuse to blow, please feel free to email me and I would be happy to provide you with additional suggestions to try and locate the issue.
