Installing a Brake Controller on a 2014 Ram 1500 ECO Diesel
Published 12/18/2014 >
Question:
I have a 2014 Dodge RAM 1500 ECO diesel. I want to add a Brake Controller. I have the towing package option and 7 pin plug already installed on the truck form Dodge. I know for the Dodge OEM controller, I would have to have the computer on the truck reset to recognize the controller. If I were to add an after market one like a Tekonsha P3 and use their Dodge Custom Harness connector, do I have to have anything done to my trucks ECU for this unit to work/be recognized or is it truly plug and play if I use the Tekonsha harness adapter?

Adding a brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 will work great with your 2014 Ram 1500. You will not need to reset your OEM computer on your 2014 Ram prior to or after installation. Installation is quite easy.
You will also need the Plug-in wiring adapter # 3023-P which allows for a quick, simple installation of your electric trailer brake controller.
I have included an installation video for you as well.
