Can a 19 Inch Radiator Fan be Used in Place of a 15 Inch Fan
Published 12/16/2014 >
Question:
I have a 15inch steel fan installed now. I am hoping that a 18 or 19inch steel fan will help to run cooler and do you see any problem with fan noise going to the larger blades? Thanks in advance!!

Going to a larger fan is certainly possible. A larger fan can move more air. But you need to make sure that there is room inside the engine compartment for a larger size. If you have a 15 inch now and went to a 19 inch that is 4 additional inches in diameter so you would need more than 2 inches of free space all around the existing fan to go to a 19 inch.
A bigger fan might make the motor work harder as well. I am not sure how much more noise it would make but I would imagine that it would be louder than the stock fan.
You might want to consider adding an electric fan instead. This will not add any extra stress to the motor and you won't have to worry about a larger fan potentially hitting something else under the hood. I have included a couple of links to the right for you to take a look at on fans in general and on electric fans. And I have linked our electric fan main page for you.
