Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the replacement hook-style locking latch for the Dee Zee tool boxes. Now this part here will include everything shown here on the table. It includes the locking latch itself, the two keys to lock or unlock it, and the four rivets for installation. Now this will replace the locking paddle latch for the Dee Zee tool boxes that have the hook-style latch.
You can see there's the hook right there. So it does fit the toolboxes with the hook-style locking mechanisms. And the keys that are included, basically, if you go to lock it, all you have to do is put your key in there, and if you just turn it a quarter of a turn, you can see right down here that would lock it. Take your key out, and it'll keep that paddle latch from opening. And then to unlock it, just put your key back in.
And as you turn it a quarter turn, that'll unlock it. And now it's able to unhook the latch from your toolbox. It does have a nice chrome finish to it, and if you also notice, it includes the foam gasket when you go to install it. But that should do it for a look at this replacement hook-style locking latch for the Dee Zee tool boxes.
I have 2 Truck tool boxes from LOWES. Both purchased new in 2008 and 2018. Both had the same failed keyed locks.
Getting parts from LOWES was impossible. After several attempts I just gave up.
Then I stumbled upon the DZTBLATCH1 (WITH LOCK) and the DZTBLATCH2, the opposite side handle of the latch system that you don't carry, but AUTOZONE DOES. Ordered them along with 2 rod connectors (Part number UWSRODCONNECTOR).
ALL 4 PARTS arrived in a few days. The latches even came with new pop rivets.
Had the original latches drilled out in 5 mins, and that included locating my drill. Installed the new latches also in under 5 mins. Ran the original connecting rod thru the connectors. Tightened the hex keys after applying a dot of blue thread locker.
Toolbox works like new again. 10 mins start to finish.
Tip..... before throwing the old locking latch away. Go thru your key ring and find the old key to that lock so you can get rid of it also. Put you new key to your new lock on your Keychain. Done and done.
Perfect replacement latch for my trailer's tool box!
Solid construction and perfect fit!
Very cheaply made.
This lock is better than the one it replaced. It fit in the same holes after I drilled out the old rivets and the new one popped right in with the new rivets they included. The locking mechanism works smoother than the original feels more substantial than the original. Plus it is priced very fairly and got here right when they said it would.
Great product. Saved me having to buy a new tool box. This fit on my Delta Tool Box perfectly. Bought an extra in case the lock on the other side gives it up. Love the company and will tell everyone I can about them
Exactly as described perfect fit and fast shipping.
