Roof racks mean lifting overhead, and most boats won't fit in your truck bed. After a day on the water, you're running on fumes and lifting again is too much. This trailer keeps the height low, so you can slide your boats on and head home.
The Yakima LowRider kayak trailer has adjustable crossbars that make it easy to set the trailer up with your favorite kayak carriers. Popular options like the BigCatch, SweetRoll, and JayLow (Y04091, Y04074, and Y04073 - each sold separately) all mount like they would on a roof rack. Just slide the bars where you need them and attach the carriers. And if your setup changes down the line, you can move the bars to match whatever you're using next. But you're not limited to kayaks, the trailer works great with canoes, SUPs, and fishing gear, depending on how you set it up. The crossbars are compatible with both clamp-on and channel-mount carriers, so you can use whatever works best for you.
Loading your boats 28 inches off the ground beats lifting overhead, especially when you're already worn out from a long day on the water. The trailer's low height lets you slide your kayak straight on without climbing, reaching, or shifting your stance to find leverage. Your tired arms and back will appreciate it.
If you're not into lifting at all, just back the trailer into the water and slide your boats on. The fully sealed LEDs are built for submersion, so they hold up no matter how many times they get dunked. They handle stop, turn, and tail signals so other drivers can see you better on the road and they stay visible at the ramp when you're backing down in low light. The wiring is protected with heat-shrink connectors and marine-grade insulation to block out shorts so the lights won't flicker.
You don't always have the space to back straight up to the coupler. The built-in handle lets you roll the trailer to your hitch instead of inching your vehicle into position. It's just as useful when you're storing the trailer in a garage or shifting it around a campsite. If you're keeping your boats loaded between trips, the handle makes it easy to roll the trailer wherever you want. Add the optional trailer jack (Y54XD - sold separately) and you can move it without lifting a thing.
The trailer is equipped with an axle and leaf spring suspension that absorbs vibration and takes the edge off rough roads. It travels smooth on the highway and won't bounce or drift behind your car. It also rolls over gravel, sand, and uneven ground better than a standard utility trailer. And unlike those trailers, there's nothing to modify.

Hi, I'm Daniel with etrailer, and today, we're gonna take a look at the Yakima LowRider kayak trailer on our 2024 Ford Bronco. If you're an avid kayaker and you own a Ford Bronco, then adding a kayak trailer on the back is gonna be a great idea. If you're out on the river all day, then you're probably gonna be pretty tired and you won't wanna lift this on top of your vehicle if you have a roof rack. And actually our neighbor today has a removable roof, so that complicates things even more. So this is a really nice piece of equipment to allow you to get out more and use your kayak. So this trailer being so close to the ground makes it really easy to take on and off your kayak.
And actually you can roll this all the way into the water, so you can just float it on and off as well. Now this trailer is marketed for kayaks, but you can actually use this with any rooftop accessory, like a cargo box, bike racks, or even a rooftop tent. And we found that not all clamp-on accessories will work with these crossbars just 'cause of how thick and wide they are. But one that will work with the kayaks that we found is the Yakima BigCatch that we have installed today. So if you're using a different accessory or you already have one, I'll give you the measurements so you make sure they've gonna fit.
So they're going to be three inches wide and the thickness is gonna be an inch and a half. And these bars also have a T-slot in them, so they are compatible with any accessory that has a T-fitting. When you're driving down that rough riverbank with all those rocks, you need to worry about your kayaks bumping up and down and all that noise because they do have built-in suspension. They got this mini lease spring in here, which will really help with that. This trailer will come in two different styles.
Everything will be exactly the same. They'll both have 12 inch wheels, but one's going to be steel, like we have today, and the other is going to be an alloy wheel. Things you're gonna need on your Bronco side is going to be a hitch, of course, and a ball mount with a two inch ball. Now, we have an etrailer adjustable ball mount just to make sure we get everything level, but if you're wanting to get one with just the specific drop you need for this trailer, looks like we have about 16 and three quarters from the coupler to the ground. So if you get around a two inch drop, then you should be good to go and you should have a nice level trailer.
And you're also gonna need your four-pole wiring to make everything safe and legal on the road. And so if you're traveling home late at night, everyone can see what you're doing. I'll go ahead and get in the cab here, and we can run through the lights and see what they look like. And we got our running lights, our brake lights, and finally, our left and right turn signals. There's a couple add-ons up here that don't come with the kit, like this spare tire, which is always nice to have in case you blow one on the highway. And this kickstand, this is really cool to have, 'cause when you're done with it, you can lift this off, lock this into place, and roll this into your garage, and it won't be leaning down. You can store it that way. And when you're ready to hook up, it's very simple. Put it on your ball mount. And it's got pretty long safety chains here, which is nice. And it'll just simply click on. Throw our wiring in place. And you ready to go start camping. If you decide to get this trailer for your Bronco, then please let us know how you like it out on your adventures, and what kind of accessories you're using with it. And that just about does it for the Yakima LowRider kayak trailer on our 2024 Ford Bronco.
