A Safe Ride is a Comfortable Ride

If you're looking for the best tie-downs for your camper, frame-mounted is the way to go. The frame is the most solid part of your entire vehicle, so it just makes sense to attach your camper to something that's not going to warp, bend, or twist. Even more importantly, the camper's center of gravity will sit lower and its weight will be spread across the entire bed. This avoids a top-heavy load perched on top of your bed rails that's liable to sway and get pushed around by crosswinds. The camper's not going to shift or slide around while you drive; it's going to stay put, and your truck is going to handle just like it does without a camper.

Quick Tip: If you have a plastic or spray-in bed liner, it's important that you use a rubber mat under the camper to eliminate any sliding or bouncing.

Don't Ruin Your Truck's Looks

how will tork lift tie downs look on my truck

Frame-mounted tie-downs are also a great pick for preserving your truck's good looks. The brackets install on the frame, tucked nearly flush with the underside of the vehicle. Remove the arms from the brackets when you're not hauling your camper, and the brackets will be barely visible.

Custom Fit, No-Drill Installation

Completely custom to your vehicle, the tie-downs attach to exisiting holes in your frame so that there's little to no drilling and no need for any modifications. Because they're custom, you'll want to use our in-house application guide to make sure you get the exact right model. The tie-downs you need might be different depending on what type of hitch or other accessories you have.

Securing Your Camper

TorkLift Tie Down Example

Once the tie-downs are installed, use a set of turnbuckles (sold separately) to secure the camper to the tie-downs. The shank on each arm has 2 pin holes so you can choose how far out they extend, that way the turnbuckles can reach the anchors on your camper without making contact with your truck. Tighten the turnbuckles to the correct level of tension (not too tight!).

where to put camper tie downs

Make sure the anchor points are offset from the tie-downs instead of lined up with them so that they will hold your camper from multiple angles. This is important for keeping your camper from shifting. Two holes in the attachment plate of the tie-downs let you find the best angle for you camper anchors.

The TLC2205 front camper frame mount fit like a glove on my 2004 2500 HD Chevy.Going to get the torklift super hitch next and the rear torklift camper mounts that bolt to the super hitch.etrailer is a great place to buy from.Going to get a lot more things for my truck. Thank you very much. Lyle K Anglemyer

by: James06/08/2020

Have not actually used them yet, but they are sturdy and well positioned, and the installation was fairly easy, although I had to grind a very small (less than 1/8') off the bottom of the passenger side plate that goes inside the frame in order to get both bolts in. I don't have a camper yet, but may get the rear tie-downs, depending on size and weight of what I get. Will use bumper brackets for now. I did not think the bed mount type of tie-down would be enough for anything but a very light camper, and the through the bed into the frame type didn't appeal to me much. Not having to drill any holes was a plus, although I would have done it if necessary to get the strength I wanted. Although these tie-downs mount in a somewhat unusual way, I think they will be very functional, strong, and convenient.

by: Alexei10/31/2023

These are the gold standard. Relatively easy to install with few simple tools. Less than 2 hours. Easy to remove / add as the camper is moved from the truck. I would purchase again.

by: Kelley01/16/2024

Good fit. Well made

by: Kris 11/30/2021

Best product for overhead camper tie-downs period. Instructions could use a little more detail and/clearer picture, but installation was relatively easy and only took approx. 2hrs to install. Much more secure than bed/bumper or stake pocket type tie downs.

The Tork lift camper tie downs are perfect. Very solid and easy to use, the installation instructions are pretty vague but once you look at it it is pretty self-explanatory?. Etrailer shipped them fast and free. Very happy camper here!!!

by: Randell 10/18/2023

Is very well engineered.

by: William 04/12/2021

End result was great. The existing bolts that have to be removed to mount each support arm can be quite rusty. I recommend hosing them down with penetration fluid and waiting 24 hours until trying to remove. Clever "drilless" mounting scheme. Will work very well.

by: Bryce 08/05/2023

Product showed up and fit like I was told it would. I have talked with 3 different employees from this company they have all been such a great help. There customer service is great.

by: Randy03/22/2021

Went on as instructed. A pain drilling holes but then again it was worth it for a quality tie-down. Love the way they look and the ease of attaching the extension.

by: David07/12/2022

They work great but after one year of use the paint is flaking. For nearly $XXX you would think they could get the powder coat right.

You mentioned that the paint was flaking on the tie downs. This can be common after a year depending on what road debris has hit it. We recommend touching it up with a rust resistant paint like Rustoleum to help protect it.

by: Susan05/18/2016

Super satisfied with the tie-downs. No drilling required. They are almost invisible when not in use. I am also very happy with etrailer's customer service. Excellent communication on order status and tracking. Looking forward to shopping with you again.

Those tie downs kick butt. I put them on my chevy Silverado 2500 and put in my 8-foot slide in camper. Then I took it over some very extreme conditions to go moose hunting in northern Manitoba. Despite all that was thrown at my truck the camper didn’t budge . I would recommend them to anyone interested in purchasing them.

by: Jeremy06/11/2020

Great tie downs never had any problems keeping my truck camper secure. The instructions that came with them were not very good it took me several tries to get them oriented correctly. I wish they had clearer pictures in their instructions. The ones provided were blurry and not clear.

by: Mike 03/21/2023

Was an easy install. Product has performed and worked nicely. Install instuctions were written nicely and accurately.

by: Eddie02/05/2021

The tie downs are very well built and fit perfectly. Once I figured things out installation was fairly easy; however, the instructions were almost useless which made installation harder than it had to be.

by: Mike03/12/2019

did not fit my old hitch so i had to upgrade the hitch. worth it for product.

  • Tie-Downs for 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500HD With 6-1/2 Foot Bed, Cab-Length Boards & OEM Hitch
  • Thanks for the photo it was really helpful and based on that, you do have the OEM hitch for your 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500HD. The hitch is unique in that it has the same open-end on the tubes, the same brackets, and same chain loops, which are all distinct to the factory hitch. So for your '03 Silverado 2500HD with a 6-1/2 foot bed, cab-length boards, and factory hitch the tie-downs you need are the following: - Front: TorkLift Custom Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs # TLC2205 - Rear:

  • If the tube step on your 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500 short bed is only under the cab of the truck and no part of it is attached beyond the back of the cab then you would look at the tie downs for models without a board or step under the truck bed and with a non-TorkLift aftermarket hitch. For the front you could then use # TLC2205. For the rear, # TLR3501. The rear tie downs will only work on aftermarket hitches that have side plates with at least a 4" x 4" footprint which seems to be

  • Recommended Frame Mounted Camper Tie-Downs For A 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500
  • The distinction you're referring to is about whether or not your Silverado has running boards or steps that sit under the bed and could block the fitment of a frame mounted camper tie-down. The hitch stipulation is in place because some people will install a TorkLift SuperHitch and they offer tie-downs that can be easily bolted to it instead of mounting separately to the frame. If you do not have running boards or a step in the way then yes, the TorkLift Custom Frame-Mounted Camper
