Note: This fifth-wheel trailer hitch will not fit pickups with beds shorter than 6'. It also will not fit trucks with flareside/stepside bed. A minimum 13" extended trailer pin box is recommended. If using a slider, hitch will not adjust to lowest height setting.
Unlike the more economical slide-bar models, the rounded, 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.
Most often used on trucks with 6' beds, this roller helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a roller to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

Reese's outboard installation kit for your fifth-wheel trailer hitch was designed with safety and convenience in mind. Just like the original custom mounting brackets, these brackets install using existing holes in the truck frame, minimizing installation time. The biggest difference with this outboard kit is the extended-length rails. These above-bed rails are 5 inches longer than standard, universal fifth-wheel rails so that they will match up with the mounting points on the brackets, which sit below the bed and outside of your truck's frame. The result is a much simpler installation process, wherein most underbed components can be easily avoided. Because you are working outside the frame rails, you also have easier access with your tools and more room to work, making the whole process less of a pain.
The base rails included in this installation kit feature a standard 10-bolt design. Each of these rails attaches to the underbed brackets with two carriage bolts at both ends. A single bolt is used in the center of each rail to further secure it in your truck bed. The result is a set of base rails that remains firmly in place thanks to 10 points of contact.
This entire installation kit is built to be SAE J2638 compliant and has been extensively tested per specified accelerated-life-cycle criteria for fifth-wheel trailer hitches. The requirements for testing are based on the European-style test of 900,000 cycles, making this testing process among the most thorough and intensive in the industry.

Ordered this hitch for my 03 ram 3500 shortbed and didnt get a chance to install it untill 2 months later. Which is when i noticed it was missing some hardware. I contacted etrailer and they shipped me the missing hardware at no cost to me, how can you beat that anyone else would have said go pound salt its been 2months . The installation was cut and dry with good instructions. I like how the hitch installed onto the frame and the quality of the parts its built heavy, its agriculture approved lol. once i finally got the bottom platform to fit it went together quite well. It is really heavy for a 74 year old to wrestle around but i have a 40 year old son to help. Have never had to slide it back to back the fifth wheel up but have not had any close quarters to deal with. I would imagine that one of these made out of aluminum would be really expensive and probably not as strong.
Installation went as printed, took two of us 4 hrs. instead of 2, but I am a perfection freak, centered within 1/32" . Have not used it yet, but will be shortly. Installed to specs provided. Will purchase next hitch from etrailer, Did not call for help, but good to know they were there if needed.
Product is as it was described. Straight forward installation. Only problem I had was minor shipping damage. The ear of the 5th wheel plate was bent from it being dropped I would guess. Better packaging would've solved this...

This kit was pretty easy to install. Took 2 guys about an hour and a half to complete. The install video was extremely helpful. We watched it several times before we began. Everything fit like a glove and looks great. Will definitely buy this kit on my next truck. The hardest part was cutting the flimsy bed liner. Thanks Reece and Etrailer.
Instructions were great & installation was easy. High quality parts that looked great and are holding up well. Etrailer and Cequent (Reese's parent co.) are both great companies to deal with - extremely knowledgeable and helpful with the products they sell.
I installed this rail kit in about 4 1/2 hours including cutting out the bedliner. The instructions were perfect. It fit great. The staff at e trailer led me to this model kit and I'm glad they did. Great product
We got off on a rocky start because the parts weren't correct in the box but that wasn't etrailer's fault.. Etrailer went above and beyond to correct the problem and I greatly appreciate it.. product fits great and I'm very pleased. Fair price also.. Will do business with etrailer again

This product gets a three based on shipping condition only. etrailer customer service and shipping time was excellent as usual. The shipment arrived 2 days after the order was placed, as promised. However, as others have noted, the product packing is poor. The boxes arrived with significant damage resulting in cosmetic damage to several parts. I haven't put the hitch to use yet but I am assuming it will work correctly. I will leave a followup after I use it.
Arrived yesterday, box with hitch was broken, UPS driver said he taped it up. All parts look good. Plastic bag with small parts was torn open, 2 small parts missing, I can get them locally. I understand that there heavy Just need to be packaged better. Otherwise all ok.
