Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Square Tube Slider - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs
part number: RP30051

Fifth-wheel trailer hitch provides excellent jaw-to-king-pin contact with a 2-jaw latching system. Square-tube slider helps to eliminate clearance concerns during slow-speed turns. Rails and installation kit sold separately.

Features:

  • 2-Jaw locking system provides more jaw-to-king-pin contact than slide-bar models
    • Less rattle
    • Greater security
  • Square-tube slider provides clearance required for your short-bed pickup to turn safely at slow speeds
    • Prevents trailer from hitting the cab of your pickup during sharp, slow-speed turns
  • 4-Way pivoting head eases hookup on unlevel ground
  • 3" Height adjustment
  • Wide stance offers excellent stability
  • Black powder coat finish resists corrosion
  • Locking handle has cushioned grip
  • Above-bed rails and mounting kit sold separately
    • Fits Curt, Valley, Draw-Tite, Hidden-Hitch and Reese base rails
    • Cut installation time in half by using a vehicle-specific bracket kit instead of the universal kit

Specs:

  • Gross towing weight: 16,000 lbs
  • Vertical load limit: 4,000 lbs
  • Installed hitch height (including rails): 15" - 18"
  • Travel: 10" front to back
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Note: If using a slider, hitch will not adjust to lowest height setting.

Note: This fifth-wheel trailer hitch will not fit pickups with beds shorter than 6'. It also will not fit trucks with flareside/stepside bed. A minimum 13" extended trailer pin box is recommended.

Reese Double Jaw

Secure, 2-Piece Jaw

Unlike the more economical slide-bar models, the rounded, 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Kwik-Slide Square-Tube Slider

Most often used on trucks with 6' beds, this roller helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a roller to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

Arrived yesterday, box with hitch was broken, UPS driver said he taped it up. All parts look good. Plastic bag with small parts was torn open, 2 small parts missing, I can get them locally. I understand that there heavy Just need to be packaged better. Otherwise all ok.

I was a little leery of installing a fifth wheel hitch to begin with, but after watching the videos from etrailer a few times and reading the instructions a couple of times, I decided I could do it. I installed the RP50064-58 kit for fifth wheel hitches and the Reese 30083 Fifth Wheel 20K w/Round Slider Unit on my 2006 GMC 2500HD short-bed. I had my three grandsons, ages 2, 3, and 7, helping me. The installation went really smooth (other than the younger children occasionally running off with tools) and I am very impressed by how sturdy it is. Now I am looking forward to receiving the Stromberg Carlson 100 Series 5th Wheel Tailgate with Open Design that I ordered. Thank you etrailer! You make it fun and easy!

Ha ha ha Michael I can relate to that have a 3 and a 7 years old and every time I work on something they are there to help the 3 year old more like wants to do it himself . Planing on installing a 5th myself and was thinking they could be of help steping on the bolts top side so I can put the nuts to the bolts, looks kinda hard. Good luck with your venture . Nice ride with this hitch . I was kind of on the fence about the pivoting but I’m good with .

by: Leroy Nordland06/22/2014

Ordered this hitch for my 2014 Chevy,it came in two boxes and was put together on the work bench in no time at all. and I also ordered the custom rail kit RP50064-58. Just in time for summer camping.

by: Matthew06/26/2023

Love the hitch. Hooks up easily and solid. Gives plenty of clearance. Only downside is it’s very noisy and you really feel the trailer. But for the price and weight it’s still 5 stars. Going to go up to a highway payload truck and will be getting the B&W companion for that. Not a reflection of the performance of this hitch though

I was a bit nervous at first installing the rails that would eventually hold the weight of a 16,000lb camper, however after reading the instructions and looking at the quality of the parts, I felt alot more comfortable. The installation was very easy, and with the large side plates, I feel alot better knowing the rails and hitch are secured to the frame with more than those small pieces of L steel that normally come with the kit. Install only took me about an hour and the hitch is very solid!

by: Danny 06/30/2023

I've used this hitch in an 08 f250 and a 15 ram 2500. All I had to do was purchase a set of frame brackets. The fact this hitch can be easily moved among tricks is great. Easy hitching and unhitching. Easy to use. Easily adjust heights. And the slide option being available is great.

by: Ken E.01/22/2017

I purchased the Reese dual jaw slider and install bracket kit. Everything arrived in three days in perfect condition. After watching the install video and reviewing the enclosed instructions I installed the assembly myself. It took approximately 4 hours . As you can see I also did additional steps, cutting the rubber bed mat to fit around the rails. Also undercoating the brackets to blend in the wheel wells. Etrailer is definitely the place to go for all your RV needs.

I have a 2006 2500HD with an existing gooseneck hitch that is welded in place between the frame. I had thought the "custom-fit 5th wheel" brackets would still fit so I ordered them so as to not have to drill in the truck frame. Unfortunately, the gooseneck channel is in the way of where the "U" bolt needed to go on the back side of the frame so I have to return this and get the "universal" install kit / rails. It will still be fine but I was trying to not drill in the frame any more than necessary.

I just wanted to pass this along incase anyone else had the same setup. It will save you some time, frustration, and shipping money :-). It was my fault (not etrailer's) .

I attached a picture showing where the bracket is with the gooseneck channel behind it (in the way). Hope it helps someone else.

Not as easy as the online videos would lead you to believe. However I did manage to get it installed. Getting the spacers nuts and lock washers on the bolts over the gas tank on my 2014 Silverado were a real SOB. Dropped 3 lock washer into the shroud over the gas tank while trying to accomplish this. Ended up taping the nut and lock washer to my wrench to get them in position while someone turned the bolt from inside the truck bed.

by: Skip11/11/2021

Poorly packaged at the warehouse which caused a box failure enroute to my house. I REALLY needed this for the weekend and will now have to either borrow a truck with a hitch or find a kit locally. Customer service blamed UPS. I disagree. Had the box been secured properly from etrailer to begin with, I wouldn’t be writing this review. I will not order anything heavy from them again.

I’ve alway used hitches from Reese and enjoyed their performance. This is my first 5th hitch. It broke on the third pull. The rod holding the jaws fractured opening one side of the jaws. Thank God the trailer stayed attached and we made it home. Reese saw it was a warranty issue and replaced the hitch. Currently we are still using it and all appears to be working fine

by: Gregory01/08/2020

Instructions are very good, all parts came with the hitch and were well protected.
This is the first time I've ever put one of these hitches together so I read the instruction thorough.
There was some lubrication that was required.
It took me 1 1/2 hours.
The only thing I can add is when installing the upper handle for the release pin, it had burrs on the inside of the handle and made it difficult to slide onto the tube.
Make sure you check for burrs and deburr before installing. I would still give them 5 stars.

I received the Reese 5th wheel 16,000 lb slider hitch from etrailer in June 2019; installed it in July 2019. Took around five hours to install the base rail kit and Reese hitch start to finish. So far so good, this heavy duty slider hitch works flawlessly with my F250/fifth wheel combo. It arrived in multiple boxes, had excellent instructions and an operating manual. For myself and other do-it-yourselfers, etrailer provides excellent support and installation videos to help with the install.

by: David02/04/2023

I bought it used it twice got rid of the 5th wheel. Never again would I own a 5th wheel biggest mistake I ever made
And it's for sale so if you know someone who would want it let me know

Missing lots of parts was repackaged, also used, all scratched. Called CUSTOMER SERVICE none in stock to replace

by: John W09/24/2019

This hitch has a feature or two we didn't even expect. It was an easy install and is performing great. Plenty of maneuverability and rock stable. etrailer's service was incredible and stayed on top of the delivery until we got it. We thought they went the second mile to make sure we got our hitch.

Being a first time 5th wheel owner and After researching for the right 5th wheel hitch for my 2011 ext cab chevy Z71 4wd. and the best prices i went with the reese 16 K slider hitch. A must for a 6 1/2 ft bed.
And etrailer had the best price and were very helpful answering all my questions
The hitch arrived in 3 days,
One of the 2 boxes was a little torn up but nothing was damaged,
The instructions were great, and it had more than enough hardware needed for different apps.
I had 2. choices for the mounting brackets,I went with the custom fit not the universal the custom brackets are strong and fit perfect.
I watched a couple install videos online, there were not many on my truck people said you have to cut out your exhaust and your heat shield and drop the gas tank.I did not have to drop my gas tank i just slightly bent down the heat shield to reach above it then pushed it back up.
I used the Allen button head bolt for the left front and had my wife spin the bolt with a long extension and ratchet while I held the nut and washers with a magnet and my finger tips,it was kind of a (pima) and took a little time but way better than dropping my tank.
I did call Reese with a couple questions and suggested to use stronger shipping boxes.
The only thing I had to adjust was the support for the parking brake cable.
I did the hole job on the ground in my yard
This also was a good time I replaced my rear brakes, checked my spare tire psi,and llubed my cable for the spare lift.
Every one was verry nice and helpful from etrailer and Reese.
I wish I was better with computers and could of made a video

Very fast shipping for the 5th wheel sliding hitch, rails and wiring ! Installation was very straight forward although the instructions were a bit vague. Watched the installation videos a couple of times which was a big help. Took about 4 hours for everything including wiring. Could have been quicker if I took off the rear wheels and lowered the exhaust but just worked around them. Picked up my new 5th wheel a week later and was very happy with the hitch - No problems at all. This was installed on a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD.

Item was great, however twice now the packages have come severely damaged and once items were missing. I think you need to consider better packing on heavy items. because of this I could not give 5 stars.Thank you though for shipping out the missing items quickly without hassle.

Ordered the Reese 16K square tube slider on Wednesday and received it on Friday even using the free shipping. That is a remarkable delivery on any product especially a very heavy 5th wheel hitch. Assembly requires only a few basic tools. Took my time and within a couple of hours had it installed and ready to use. Bed rails were already installed.

I give etrailer 1 star I would like to give them no stars (less than poor) for this transaction. I received this hitch Thursday 2/10/2022 the box was in a very tattered condition. I opened the box on the next day Friday 2/11/2022 it appeared that the box did not contain all of the pieces for the hitch, looking at the box it showed that there should have been 2 boxes, I received box 1 of 2. I called and spoke with someone at etrailer they informed me that UPS had damaged the second box in shipping, and that they had returned box 2 of 2 to etrailer. I was never informed by UPS or etrailer of what had taken place. I never received any notification that the first box had been delivered. The only correspondence that I have received was an email from Carol C informing me that she was notified that my order had been delivered, she also sent me this link for me to write a review. I have been told by the person that I had spoken to that my missing parts to my hitch would be shipped. It is now 2/14 I still have not received any notification of my parts being shipped, or when I will receive them.

  • I spoke to my contact at Reese about your Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider part # RP30051 and they informed me that the 1/4" gap between the jaws is normal with the trailer coupled. The reason for this is because the diameter inside the jaws while uncoupled is less than 2" which is the diameter of the kingpin therefore a gap must be present while coupled. The space can be anywhere from 1/4" - 5/16". You should not have any concerns with your 5th wheel hitch in regards to the gap

With an 8 foot bed you won't have clearance issues, but if you have a 6-1/2 foot bed, then I recommend the same rail kit,

  • Custom Fifth Wheel Rails and Brackets for 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500
  • There is a custom bracket kit available for your 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500, but the Reese # RP56001-53 will not fit. Instead you can use the Reese Custom Installation Kit # RP50064-58, which is a fit for your truck. • Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation Kit for a 2014 Chevy Silverado 2500
  • The 2006 Chevy Silverado and 2014 Silverado (2500 on both) take different frame brackets for a Reese custom installation kit. The rails you already have will still work but you will need to replace the brackets with # RP50066. I also recommend additional hardware package # RP58430 to attach the rails to the brackets. The original hardware is meant to be installed just once. I have linked the instructions for you and a video showing installation.

  • Compatibility of Reese 15K 5th Wheel Hitch With Other Trucks
  • The fifth wheel hitch itself isn't a vehicle specific item, but the install bracket/rails/hardware IS vehicle specific. The only other vehicle specific consideration is the size of the truck bed. If you have a long bed truck, use a stationary hitch. For a 6-1/2 foot bed, you'd want to use a sliding hitch to provide the proper clearance between the front of the fifth wheel and the back of the truck cab. If you have the super short 5-1/2 foot bed, the slider won't provide enough clearance

  • Will the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Work With the Lippert Turning Point Pin Box
  • If you are referring to the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30047 then yes, this will work with the Lippert Turning Point Pin Box on your 2013 GMC Sierra 1500. However, you will also need the Custom Wedge for Select Series Fifth Wheels part # SWW-03 unless the Lippert Turning Point Pin Box already has one then you can use that. This is a metal block attached to the underside of the pin box to stop it from turning inside the jaws of the 5th wheel hitch. For an install kit, I recommend

  • Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 Towing 5th Wheel
  • Most likely would have a hard time getting fifth wheel rails to fit with the air bags you sent in a picture of. I don't recognize the brand of the bags as they don't match what we carry but most likely you'd have to remove the kit to install fifth wheel rails. The RoadActive Suspension Kit part # RAS4611 would be a great solution to replace the air bag kit for suspension enhancement that will perform well and not prevent fifth wheel rails from installing. I attached an install video for

  • Fifth Wheel Rail Kit Recommendation for 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 5-1/2 foot Bed
  • The Trailboss fifth wheel hitch you have is designed to fit industry standard fifth wheel rails so for a rail kit that is compatible with it and your 2017 GMC 1500 5-1/2 foot bed you'd want the # RP50064-58 which is a custom install kit. Custom kits are much easier to install as they minimize drilling and install time. Since you have such a short bed you will need to replace your current pin box with a Sidewinder so that you can make tight turns without interference. You will need

  • Best Fifth Wheel Base Rail Kit for 2007 Chevy Silverado Classic 2500HD
  • The best base rail and installation kit for your 2007 Chevy Silverado Classic 2500HD is the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails # RP50064-58 because it is a no-drill install and the base rails are longer than most which means they will attach to the brackets, which will also sit completely outside the frame of your Chevy. Not having to drill is not only good for your truck but it significantly reduces the amount of time it takes to install this kit.

  • What Is Purpose of Lower Portion of Frame Bracket on Reese Rail Kit # RP50064-58
  • The brackets of the # RP50064-58 are designed to fit a few different styles of trucks. Some of the trucks use the lower portion of the bracket that you pointed out and others use the higher mounting holes. Basically with this bracket kit they created something that can fit a few different frame designs. If you check out the install picture I attached you can see the two different ways the brackets get installed based on the vehicle. 43 inches isn't a standard length for a fifth wheel

  • Will 20K Fifth Wheel Hitch Use Same Base Rails in 2012 GMC Sierra as 16K Fifth Wheel Hitch
  • If you are going from a Reese 16K hitch to a Reese 20K hitch you will almost certainly be able to use the same base rails that are in your 2012 GMC Sierra, though to confirm I would need to know exactly what you have in your truck. Reese hitches fit industry-standard base rails like those that come with the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails # RP50064-58. I have added a photo which shows how industry-standard rails will measure so you can compare yours.

  • Towing Capacity and Fifth Wheel Hitch for 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 4WD with 5.3L V8
