Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Square Tube Slider - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs
part number: RP30051

Fifth-wheel trailer hitch provides excellent jaw-to-king-pin contact with a 2-jaw latching system. Square-tube slider helps to eliminate clearance concerns during slow-speed turns. Rails and installation kit sold separately.

Features:

  • 2-Jaw locking system provides more jaw-to-king-pin contact than slide-bar models
    • Less rattle
    • Greater security
  • Square-tube slider provides clearance required for your short-bed pickup to turn safely at slow speeds
    • Prevents trailer from hitting the cab of your pickup during sharp, slow-speed turns
  • 4-Way pivoting head eases hookup on unlevel ground
  • 3" Height adjustment
  • Wide stance offers excellent stability
  • Black powder coat finish resists corrosion
  • Locking handle has cushioned grip
  • Above-bed rails and mounting kit sold separately
    • Fits Curt, Valley, Draw-Tite, Hidden-Hitch and Reese base rails
    • Cut installation time in half by using a vehicle-specific bracket kit instead of the universal kit

Specs:

  • Gross towing weight: 16,000 lbs
  • Vertical load limit: 4,000 lbs
  • Installed hitch height (including rails): 15" - 18"
  • Travel: 10" front to back
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Note: If using a slider, hitch will not adjust to lowest height setting.

Note: This fifth-wheel trailer hitch will not fit pickups with beds shorter than 6'. It also will not fit trucks with flareside/stepside bed. A minimum 13" extended trailer pin box is recommended.

Reese Double Jaw

Secure, 2-Piece Jaw

Unlike the more economical slide-bar models, the rounded, 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Kwik-Slide Square-Tube Slider

Most often used on trucks with 6' beds, this roller helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a roller to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

Was looking for a bolt on kit for bare frame rails for a hotshot truck. These require support in the middle (at least one center bolt in each rail). Ended up having a fabricator weld a plate for support and mount the rails to that. But I guess that's reasonable for a universal kit.

by: John05/03/2024

Arrived yesterday, box with hitch was broken, UPS driver said he taped it up. All parts look good. Plastic bag with small parts was torn open, 2 small parts missing, I can get them locally. I understand that there heavy Just need to be packaged better. Otherwise all ok.

by: Leroy Nordland06/22/2014

Ordered this hitch for my 2014 Chevy,it came in two boxes and was put together on the work bench in no time at all. and I also ordered the custom rail kit RP50064-58. Just in time for summer camping.

by: Matthew06/26/2023

Love the hitch. Hooks up easily and solid. Gives plenty of clearance. Only downside is it’s very noisy and you really feel the trailer. But for the price and weight it’s still 5 stars. Going to go up to a highway payload truck and will be getting the B&W companion for that. Not a reflection of the performance of this hitch though

by: Lisa 03/11/2023

Nice ride with this hitch . I was kind of on the fence about the pivoting but I’m good with .

by: Danny 06/30/2023

I've used this hitch in an 08 f250 and a 15 ram 2500. All I had to do was purchase a set of frame brackets. The fact this hitch can be easily moved among tricks is great. Easy hitching and unhitching. Easy to use. Easily adjust heights. And the slide option being available is great.

by: Ken E.01/22/2017

I purchased the Reese dual jaw slider and install bracket kit. Everything arrived in three days in perfect condition. After watching the install video and reviewing the enclosed instructions I installed the assembly myself. It took approximately 4 hours . As you can see I also did additional steps, cutting the rubber bed mat to fit around the rails. Also undercoating the brackets to blend in the wheel wells. Etrailer is definitely the place to go for all your RV needs.

Where can I get instructions on how to install the rp30035 on my 2008 chevy Silverado one ton dually, 8 foot bed.

You can find the instructions on our website, right here on the product page. Look for the "Installation Details" link closer to the top of the page.

by: Gregory01/08/2020

Instructions are very good, all parts came with the hitch and were well protected.
This is the first time I've ever put one of these hitches together so I read the instruction thorough.
There was some lubrication that was required.
It took me 1 1/2 hours.
The only thing I can add is when installing the upper handle for the release pin, it had burrs on the inside of the handle and made it difficult to slide onto the tube.
Make sure you check for burrs and deburr before installing. I would still give them 5 stars.

I received the Reese 5th wheel 16,000 lb slider hitch from etrailer in June 2019; installed it in July 2019. Took around five hours to install the base rail kit and Reese hitch start to finish. So far so good, this heavy duty slider hitch works flawlessly with my F250/fifth wheel combo. It arrived in multiple boxes, had excellent instructions and an operating manual. For myself and other do-it-yourselfers, etrailer provides excellent support and installation videos to help with the install.

by: David02/04/2023

I bought it used it twice got rid of the 5th wheel. Never again would I own a 5th wheel biggest mistake I ever made
And it's for sale so if you know someone who would want it let me know

Worked perfect used with airlift AL57298. Didn’t see any picture of universal rails and air bag kit working togther.

Being a first time 5th wheel owner and After researching for the right 5th wheel hitch for my 2011 ext cab chevy Z71 4wd. and the best prices i went with the reese 16 K slider hitch. A must for a 6 1/2 ft bed.
And etrailer had the best price and were very helpful answering all my questions
The hitch arrived in 3 days,
One of the 2 boxes was a little torn up but nothing was damaged,
The instructions were great, and it had more than enough hardware needed for different apps.
I had 2. choices for the mounting brackets,I went with the custom fit not the universal the custom brackets are strong and fit perfect.
I watched a couple install videos online, there were not many on my truck people said you have to cut out your exhaust and your heat shield and drop the gas tank.I did not have to drop my gas tank i just slightly bent down the heat shield to reach above it then pushed it back up.
I used the Allen button head bolt for the left front and had my wife spin the bolt with a long extension and ratchet while I held the nut and washers with a magnet and my finger tips,it was kind of a (pima) and took a little time but way better than dropping my tank.
I did call Reese with a couple questions and suggested to use stronger shipping boxes.
The only thing I had to adjust was the support for the parking brake cable.
I did the hole job on the ground in my yard
This also was a good time I replaced my rear brakes, checked my spare tire psi,and llubed my cable for the spare lift.
Every one was verry nice and helpful from etrailer and Reese.
I wish I was better with computers and could of made a video

This hitch has a feature or two we didn't even expect. It was an easy install and is performing great. Plenty of maneuverability and rock stable. etrailer's service was incredible and stayed on top of the delivery until we got it. We thought they went the second mile to make sure we got our hitch.

by: Bryan02/20/2019

Best value for the money! I have used this hitch for a season now and I must say, it's worked out great. I use a Teflon plate with it and this hitch doesn't have much play in it going down the road. I have not had any issues with it sliding when locked.

2002 Dodge Ram Pickup

I am very impressed with the fit and finish. Packaging from etrailer.com was inadequate. UPS man unloaded the package, rang the doorbell and drove away before I got outside. There was a lock washer laying on the ground and a bracket was hanging out of the box. We opened the package and inventoried everything, and to my amazement everything was there. Ordering process was very easy and my order shipped quickly. While on my lunch break at work I added 6 items to my cart and printed it so I could complete the order when I got home. About 4 hours later 3 of the 6 items increased in price. This hitch increased in price by $2, not a big deal I guess. I was able to find this item about $12 cheaper at another retailer and I provided this information to etrailer.com. Within a few hours they refunded me 110% of the difference. I am installing this on a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 short bed and the instructions are lacking. Maybe a professional installer who has done this many times would not have any problems, but the instructions leave some things to your imagination.

Working great after one year of use. Use it to tow a 30 gooseneck trailer and it has worked as advertised. I bought a used 5th wheel hitch and although I have never used it, it fits perfectly in the rail system.

by: JImmie W.09/19/2015

Ordered the Reese 16K square tube slider on Wednesday and received it on Friday even using the free shipping. That is a remarkable delivery on any product especially a very heavy 5th wheel hitch. Assembly requires only a few basic tools. Took my time and within a couple of hours had it installed and ready to use. Bed rails were already installed.

by: Cindy B08/11/2016

purchased just the rails for 5th wheel receiver as we bought a used camper and the Reese Easy Loader came with it but owner did not want to remove rails from their truck. Technician was excellent in helping with installation and emailed us directions specific to my truck. Shipping was quick and install went well. We had room to use 12 bolts vs 10 so we did. We did install 1" forward in bed as we had room to do it. Better more forward when hauling. The knurled bolts were too short for our truck bed and we called and let them know. We had our own that were longer so no delay in install.

Fantastic!! In fact we just removed the hitch for the first time and rails are no issue in truck bed. Easy ineasy out after rails installed.

by: Doug02/14/2022

I give etrailer 1 star I would like to give them no stars (less than poor) for this transaction. I received this hitch Thursday 2/10/2022 the box was in a very tattered condition. I opened the box on the next day Friday 2/11/2022 it appeared that the box did not contain all of the pieces for the hitch, looking at the box it showed that there should have been 2 boxes, I received box 1 of 2. I called and spoke with someone at etrailer they informed me that UPS had damaged the second box in shipping, and that they had returned box 2 of 2 to etrailer. I was never informed by UPS or etrailer of what had taken place. I never received any notification that the first box had been delivered. The only correspondence that I have received was an email from Carol C informing me that she was notified that my order had been delivered, she also sent me this link for me to write a review. I have been told by the person that I had spoken to that my missing parts to my hitch would be shipped. It is now 2/14 I still have not received any notification of my parts being shipped, or when I will receive them.

by: Shelby03/27/2023

Item was great, however twice now the packages have come severely damaged and once items were missing. I think you need to consider better packing on heavy items. because of this I could not give 5 stars.Thank you though for shipping out the missing items quickly without hassle.

I am rating this as EXCELLENT, do to the ease of installation an the escallation of the shipping arrangement. Thank You for a great product and great service.

2015 Ford F-150

Installed these rails with the short bed Reese bracket kit for 2015 or newer f150. Installation went well. Instructions were pretty straight forward but measurements from end of bed were not quite right and put the rails too far forward of the underbed brackets by about 2". I actually measured off the cross rails under the bed of the truck after I had installed the brackets.

Helpful hint: after getting a hole drilled on either side of the front rail to secure it to brackets under bed, put the hitch on both rails which will line up the rear rail exactly right then drill the rest of your mounting holes.

The included spacers are not quite thick enough and have come out from between the rails and bottom of the bed a few times even after I tightened bolts so much, bed started to bend. Have to find some other Shem's to make it tight enough.

I would recommend these rails eventhough it took a little bit to get them in the right location.

PS - Be very careful when drilling holes on driver side as you are right over the gas tank.

They are used to prevent the the head from contacting the hitch body abruptly which could damage it. Some hitches have additional holes so the bumpers can be moved.

  • Recommended Towing Setup for Keystone Hideout 5th Wheel Trailer
  • I recommend a 1 ton truck for your application. Your preference of Ram, Chevy Silverado, or Ford but get a 2500 or 3500 equivalent. I recommend getting a normal 8 foot bed and then adding the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - 10 Bolt # RP30035 and the Reese 22K # RP30033. This hitch will have the dual jaws for great king pin contact to reduce jarring and chucking. This is a great option for your Keystone Hideout 5th wheel trailer. I also

  • The Reese Universal Base Rails, part # RP30035, will have a mounting hole measurement of 22 inches, center to center, from front to back and 29 inches, center to center, from side to side. It will accept the Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Valley and Husky fifth wheel hitches. I am attaching a photo that will show those dimensions. If your 1995 Ford F-250 is a short 6-foot bed you will need to use a slider fifth wheel hitch that will give you an extra 10 to 12 inches in travel

  • What is Weight Rating of Fifth Wheel Rails
  • Fifth wheel rails have basically have the same weight rating as the fifth wheel hitch that is installed in them. They are supported by the frame of the truck more than anything. The bed of the truck helps, but truck beds are typically a very thin metal compared to the strength of a truck frame.

  • Where Is Best Placement Of Fifth Wheel Hitch In Truck Bed on 2002 Ford F-250
  • Where to place a fifth wheel hitch in your truck bed will vary based on your vehicle as well as the install kit that you are using. Generally, you want to install the hitch in a location where the trailer king pin will be directly over or slightly forward of the centerline of the rear truck axle. If the king pin is too far rearward of the truck axle then the pin weight will make the front end of your truck too light. This can negatively affect your overall braking and steering performance. • Can Base Rails From 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 Be Used on 2005 GMC Sierra 2500 HD
  • If you have the Reese, Curt, or Husky universal installation kit, then yes, the mounting brackets and rails from your 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 will also work for the 2005 GMC Sierra 2500 HD. I have included a photo of the Reese universal installation kit for you to take a look at. If you have a different brand of base rails/mounting brackets, I can not 100% guarantee it's compatibility with your new truck. Please keep in mind that base rail mounting hardware is designed for one time use

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch Install Dimensions for 1992 Ford F150
  • For the 1992 Ford F150, I would recommend using the Reese Universal Fifth Wheel Install Kit, part # RP30035, that you have referenced. According to the installation instructions that I will link you to, the distance from the back of the rear bed rail to the back edge of the bed (not the tailgate) is 32-1/2 inches for both the short and long bed F150 models. Once the rear rail is placed, the legs of your fifth wheel hitch are used to provide the correct spacing for the front rail. The

  • Are There Any Custom Fifth Wheel Install Kits for a 1995 Ford F-250
  • Correct, there isn't any sort of custom fifth wheel install kit for a 1995 Ford F-250 because there aren't any pre-drilled holes on the truck frame to use for fifth wheel hitch brackets. Therefore, the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit part # RP30035 is your best option for a fifth wheel install kit. If you don't already have a fifth wheel hitch, the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30047 is an excellent option that will work perfectly with the Reese Universal Base Rails

  • Reese Base Rail Installation Kit For A 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500
  • With Reese's recent buyout (2023) some of their parts are bit hard to come by during the transition, with rail kits being one of the affected items. We do still have the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit # RP30035 in stock, but these are universal fit brackets which require quite a bit of drilling into the frame. Personally, I would switch to the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Chevy/GMC # C16411-204 to have custom-fit brackets that will match up to the factory

  • 5th Wheel Towing with a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado
  • If properly equipped and the 5th wheel does not exceed the maximum towing capacity for the vehicle. I suggest you consult the vehicle specific owners manual for towing specs first because Chevy has determined that fifth wheel and gooseneck trailers should not be towed with some models of the 2005 Silverado. There is a difference between can tow something and towing something safely. For a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 HD with 6-1/2 foot bed you will need a slider type hitch. You will

  • Proper Position of 5th Wheel King Pin In Relation to Rear Axle of Chevy Silverado
  • With any truck, the fifth wheel trailer's king pin should be positioned directly above or just slightly ahead of the rear axle centerline. The exact placement will depend on which installation kit you are using. If you were to place the king pin behind the axle, it can potentially lighten the load on the front axle to the point of reducing the steering and braking response when towing. For example, if you have the Reese Universal Rails # RP30035, it states that the king pin should be

  • The best option we can offer to install a Curt Q25 5th Wheel Hitch on a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 is with the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches part # RP30035. This is a complete kit that comes with everything you need. That said, it would not be possible for us to get you a kit confirmed to fit the existing hole you have already. There are simply too many options and no way to reference the hole spacing between options.

  • Are the Bolts in the Middle of Rails Needed for Installation of 5th Wheel Rails on a 2011 Chevy 3500
  • The Bolts in the center of both rails were originally added to keep the above bed rails from bowing, especially with a slider hitch. The bolts also help with keeping the hitch from moving in the bed and capacity, so it is a very good idea to have these bolts installed. This is true no matter which installation kit you are using, Universal, item # RP30035, or a custom install kit, item # RP50066-58. I have linked instructions for both of these installation kits for you to review. Both
