Yakima SpareRide 2 Bike Rack - Spare Tire Mount - Folding Arms
After a couple of weeks of researching which type of bike rack I wanted for my Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JK (hitch mount or spare tire), I decided on the spare tire mount. And after a 4hr (roundtrip) mountain biking weekend escape, I'm very happy with my decision. What I like about the rack: well built, very sturdy with bike(s) mounted (no sway or rattle), arms fold down and lock in place when not in use (looks slick), full access to cargo area without needing to remove rack, rack and bike cable locks included, economical, lifetime warranty and of course the dual bottle openers ; ) What I would improve upon or revise in a future model: arms should be longer (even just an inch because bikes rub slightly so I had to add padding), more use of aluminum rather than plastic (thinking long term durability of the plastic locking teeth and arms) Thanks eTrailer
2015 Jeep WranglerThis bike carrier is great! It is very well made and is secured to the vehicle with a keyed lock. It comes with a locking cable for the bike as well. I can open the tailgate and access the trailer hitch while the bike is on the carrier. I could not be more pleased!

Hollywood Racks SR1 2-Bike Carrier - Spare Tire Mount
This HRSR1 bike carrier will not fit a 2023 Jeep Wrangler JL UNLESS you remove the stock Liddy Light and associated bracket. Upon discovering this, I was able to locate an aftermarket kit which allows for the relocation of the light to just above the rear camera. The kit was easily installed and the bike mount was installed just as easily as the directions explain. The new location of the light is partially obscured with the bikes mounted and, although not ideal, it is adequate and certainly better than total removal. I was unable to find any mention of this situation in the install instructions or reviews prior to purchase of the rack. I just wish I had been aware of this before purchase. I would have rated 5 stars for this product were it not for the slight hiccup. Kudos to etrailer. It is always a pleasure to do business with them. They are very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable.
JeepIt's sturdy even off-road, and it's simple to take on and off. I've had to use my spare tire twice since owning this rack, and although I have to remove my bike and loosen the bike rack bolts a bit, it comes off and goes back on with minimal effort, which is nice when you're on the Alaska Highway and it's snowing. I've carried my full-suspension bike on this rack for 35k miles all over the U.S. and Canada. I like how my bike fits close to the tire, where I lock it. My tailgate opens without the bike touching the side of my Jeep. Great bang for the buck.

Malone Runway Spare Tire Bike Rack for 3 Bikes - Adjustable Arms
The bike rack arrived quickly. It was missing a wrench. We read the directions but found a video that was very helpful to us in setting the rack in place.
The eTrailer has been a God send and we are so grateful. Our son-in-law died from COVID last year which left our daughter and two grand-daughters alone. This eTrailer was a gift which allows the three of them to get out for bike rides whenever they need to “clear their heads” and be refreshed in God’s glorious creation. Hi This is an Excellent Bike Rack, It came in no time, Nicely Plastic Wrapped incase of Rain, The Instructions were an Easy Read. I Installed it on my 2001 Honda CRV which was a Breeze, I do think that People Who are too week to lift a Tire shouldnt attempt this alone Though. When You install it you have one hand to hold the tire and one to Screw in your bolts. It does require Strength and Dexterity, and we who ride Bikes already Have that I would Think. Today on our 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we've got out the Hollywood Racks SR2 and we're test fitting it. Now the SR2 is a spare tire-mounted 2-bike rack. This has been designed to fit on most size tires anywhere from the 215 on up to the 12-1/2"-wide tires. Part number on it is HRSR2. It that's a nice job holding the bike in place. We've got two cradles here that do the job here on the top frame tube, and the incorporated strap will then go around your wheels, keep them from spinning and moving around while you head down the road. Since it does mount to the spare tire, we're still get to have access to get into the cargo area there.

Today on our 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited we'll be doing a test-fit of the Yakima SpareRide 2 - Spare Tire Mounted Bike Rack, part number Y02599. We've already got it loaded up on our Jeep just to give you a good idea of what it's going to look like. It secures our bike in three spots. We have two zip strips for our top two tube here and then one zip strip for our down tube. The one for our down tube is going to be our anti-sway. That's going to help prevent a lot of the sway and movement in the bike from side-to-side as well as prevent bike to vehicle contact and bike to bike contact. We'll go ahead and remove those and then take off our bike. They're really easy to use.

This is going to be your hanging style 2 bike rack that's going to be mounted to your spare tire bracket. As you can see we've already got this one up here on our vehicle and loaded. It's going to be part number TH963PRO. We're going to go over a couple of things real quick before we show you how this comes off and goes together. First thing we're going to go over is the distance that sticks out from the back of the vehicle when the cradle arms are extended and your bike is on it. It looks like it's going to be about 22 1/2 inches that extends off the back in the vehicle with the ground clearance of 26 1/2 inches.

To answer that question it's going to be about 21-1/2" that it extends off the end of the vehicle.

Fit Test: Malone Runway Spare Tire Bike Rack for 3 Bikes with 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Speaker 1: Today on our 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited we're going to be test fitting the Malone spare tire mount Runway 3 bike rack, part number MPG2148. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. How the bike is attached to the rack we're going to have two straps up at the tops here, then we're going to have these padded cradles underneath to ensure that the frame of our bike doesn't have any scratches or abrasions on it after installing. The cradles can be adjusted back and forth to accommodate loading and you do this by loosening and tightening the screws at the base here and getting them to the location you need them.Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside, remove the straps, and just lift it right off. With the bike rack in this position, I'm going to give you a quick measurement, measuring from the edge of our tire to our outer edge we've added about 27 inches to the rear of the vehicle. When the bike is not in use, or is taken off, you can fold these down by turning these handles on either side up to put them in the unlocked position, you can see that where the teeth separate, and then you can actually lower this down, and fold it flat against the tire.

Now keep in mind that we're using this with tire size 225/75R17, and we're going to have enough clearance here. Now we've already got our bike installed in place. We're first going to show you how we secure it down. We have two cradles in place with three straps, two on our frame and one as our anti-sway strap in the back.

Today on our 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, well be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Spare Tire Mount SR2 2 Bike Carrier, part number HRSR2. Now with our spare tire removed from the vehicle and our center cap taken out of the spare tire, well place the black backplate of the carrier onto the lug studs. Well then pick up our spare tire and slide the spare tire onto our Wranglers lug studs. Well then replace the lug nuts and tighten it down using a wrench. This will secure the backplate of the carrier to the vehicle. Well now place the carrier onto the vehicle by sliding the open tube onto the square tube of the backplate then using one of the included bolts; well thread through the carrier and tighten it down with the included wrench. This will secure the carrier to the vehicle.

Today on this 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we'll be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Spare Tire Rack, part number HRSR2. The first thing we need to do is remove the spare tire from the spare tire mount at the back of our Jeep, then well take our backing plate, fit it over the studs of our spare tire carrier, and reinstall the spare tire. With our spare tire installed, we'll select the proper adapter for the bike rack to accommodate the vehicle's spare tire, then we'll slide it in place over the mount then we'll take the appropriate length of the bolt to secure the carrier to the mount. Then we'll install our locking cover over that bolt. With our bike rack securely mounted, we can prepare to load a bike. We'll swing out the two bike rack arms and we'll also make sure that the rubber straps over the cradles closest to the vehicle are undone.

Today on our 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we're doing a test fit of the Spare Ride spare tire mount two-bike rack. That part number is Y02599. Now, this fits tires from 7 11/16 inches to 12 1/2 inches wide. Keep in mind that this cannot be used with spare tire mounted back up cameras. While we have this on our vehicle, we're first going to show you how we secure it down. We've got two cradles in place with three straps, two on our frame and one as our anti-sway in the back.
