Adam: What's going on, everybody Adam here with etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Thule Gateway 3 bike rack on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta. So if we do have only a need for only two bikes to be hauled to and fro, we have a two bike version available here at etrailer.com.So this is going to be a really good solution for you if you don't want to mess with a roof rack or don't have the capabilities of getting a hitch on your vehicle. If you need to get bikes, this is going to be the way to go. The nice thing about this is it fits really well on our Jetta, but it'll fit on other vehicles too. So if you have multiple vehicles, sometimes you take one, sometimes they take the other, this can work on mostly any vehicle.



Yakima Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2013 Volkswagen Jetta

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, we're doing a test fit of the Yakima HalfBack 3 trunk mount bike rack. That part number Y02635. Now, we already have our bike secured down. We're first going to show you have we do that and then we'll go over some features. We have two cradles in place with three points of contact with our zip strips. There's going to be two on our frame here and one as our anti-sway strip in the back.

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, we're doing a test fit of the Yakima Fullback 3 trunk mount bike rack. That part number is Y02633. Now, we already have our bike secured down. Yakima Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Y02636

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, we're doing a test fit of the Yakuma Half Back 2 Trunk Mount Bike Rack. That part number is Y02636. Now, we already have our bike secured down, first we're going to show you how we do that. We have 2 cradles in place with 3 zip strips, 2 on our frame here at the top and one as our anti-sway in the back. We will push down on the tabs on either side and pull our strip out to release our bike . We'll hang on to those so we can take our bike off of our rack and set it off to the side .. Then, with our bike out of the way, I always suggest you replace your strips so you don't lose our damage them ...



Yakima Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Y02634

Today marks 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, Were doing a test of the Yakima full back 2 trunk mount 2 bike rack. That part number is Y02634. Now we already have our bike secured down, first going to show you how we do that. We have two cradles in place with three straps. Two on our frame and one as our anti-sway. Now according to Yakima, these are thier zip strips. To release those strips, we're just going to push on the sides here and pull them out and we'll save this one here for last.

We're first going to show you how we do that, and then we'll go over some features. We have two cradles in place with 3 straps. two on our frame, and one as our anti-sway strap, in the back.



Saris Bones RS 3 Bike Rack Review - 2013 Volkswagen Jetta

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, we will be test fitting the Saris Bones RS Trunk Mounted 3 Bike Rack, part number SA851B. To begin our test fit, we will place our lower hooks under the lip of our trunk. In some fits, you may need to open the trunk lid to get these hooks under. We will then line up our rubber bumpers, extend our ratchet straps out by pulling the yellow handle, and hook them on to the leading edge of our trunk lid. A lever inside of the mechanism will allow you to change the position of the bumpers, moving them up and down to get the best fit for your vehicle. With those secure, we'll pull the yellow levers at the top of the rack, pushing our arms towards the middle, moving them up, and then sliding them back out to lock them into place with the yellow lever. You will want to make sure that these arms are sitting level, or slightly inclined. We'll go ahead and open up our cradle straps, grab our bike, place it in the cradles, and secure it with our straps.



Saris Bones Trunk Mount 3 Bike Rack Review - 2013 Volkswagen Jetta

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, we will be test fitting the Saris Bones Adjustable Arm Trunk Mount 3 Bike Rack, part number SA801. To begin our test fit, we will place our bike rack directly onto our trunk, making sure that our lower pads are resting directly on the top of our rear bumper. Our upper and lower arms are adjustable, to give us the best fit for our vehicle. To secure it, we will first hook the upper straps to the upper part, the side straps to the side, and the bottom straps to the bottom. We will now secure our excess strap. One of the great features of the Saris Bones are the cradle arms that are fully adjustable, allowing you to tuck them down to be in the stored position, or up in the loaded position. When setting our cradle arms for the loading position, we will want to make sure they are either level, or slightly inclined. We will now undo our cradle straps, grab our bike, place it into our cradles, and secure it by tightening the straps. With everything secure, we're ready for the road.



Thule Passage Trunk Mounted Bike Rack Review - 2013 Volkswagen Jetta

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, we will be test fitting the Thule Passage 2 Bike Rack, part number TH910XT. We have set our fit dial to 7, according to the Thule fit guide, to match our car. We'll place the rack directly on the trunk, being sure that the bottom of the rack rests directly on top of the rear bumper. We'll put the top hooks at the top of the trunk, the side hooks on the side part of the trunk, and the bottom hooks on the bottom part of the trunk. We will then tighten the straps, to secure our rack to our vehicle. We'll then secure our access straps. By squeezing the push pin, we can rotate our arms into the loading position.



Thule Gateway Trunk Mount Bike Rack Review - 2013 Volkswagen Jetta

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta we will be test fitting the Thule Gateway Trunk Mount 2 Bike Rack, part number TH9006XT. We will refer to the Thule fit guide to see what number our dial needs to be set at. On our Jetta we need to have our dial set at 7. We'll begin the test fit by placing the rack directly onto the trunk lid and we will want to be sure that our bottom pad is resting directly on the top of our bumper. We'll go ahead and place our hooks into position, putting the top hooks on first to help us hold the rack, then we'll move to the bottom and the side hooks. We'll make our way around tightening down each one. Now with all of our straps secure we'll go ahead and secure our excess.



Thule Archway Trunk Mount Bike Rack Review - 2013 Volkswagen Jetta

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, we will be test fitting the Thule Archway 2-bike rack, part number TH9009XT.Well place our fit dial at number 7 according to the instructions, and well place the bike rack directly onto our trunk. We will be sure that our bike rack is resting on the upper tier of our bumper. We will then place our top hooks on the leading edge of our trunk. Well place the side hooks on the side of our trunk, and our bottom hooks on the bottom. Well then tighten each strap to secure our rack to our car.With all of our straps tight, well go ahead and secure the excess strap. Now, we will undo the levers on the side of our bike rack, allowing our dual arms to swing out.



Hollywood Racks Express 3 Bike Rack Review - 2013 Volkswagen Jetta

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta we will be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Express Trunk Mount 3-bike Carrier. Part number HRE3. We'll begin our test fit by placing the bike rack directly on the trunk of our Jetta. We will want to be sure that the bottom bar of our rack fits into the lower well of our license plate. We will then secure the top strap to the top of the trunk. The side strap to the side of the trunk and the bottom strap to the bottom of the trunk.



Hollywood Racks Expedition Trunk Bike Rack Review - 2013 Volkswagen Jetta

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta we will be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Expedition Trunk Mounted 2-Bike Carrier Part Number HRF6-2. To begin our test fit we will place our rack directly onto the trunk of our vehicle. We'll adjust it by using the black levers here on the side. We will then hook the top straps to the top part of the trunk, side straps to the side part of the trunk, and the bottom straps to the bottom of our trunk. We will then evenly tighten our straps to secure our rack to our Jetta. We will now secure our excess strap. Now we'll flip out the lower set of black levers to swing the cradle arms out.



Hollywood Racks Baja 2 Trunk Bike Rack Review - 2013 Volkswagen Jetta

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, we will be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Baja Trunk Mount Two-Bike Rack, Part#HRB2.Well begin the test fit by placing our bike rack directly on our trunk. When positioning our rack, we want to be sure that its sitting directly on top of our rear bumper, and well use the two levers on the side to adjust our cradle arm to make sure they are level or slightly inclined.Well now close our levers to secure our arms in place. Well now place our top straps on the top of our trunk. Well place our side straps on the side and our bottom straps on the bottom. With our hooks in position, we can tighten each strap to secure our rack to our vehicle. We will now secure our excess strap and undo our cradle straps to expose our cradles.We will now grab our bike, placing it directly on to our cradles and securing it with the cradle straps.
