Demanding trailer, camper, or payload weight can leave your truck squatting and less controlled. These air springs add up to 7,500 lbs of leveling support to reduce sag, sway, and bottoming, while internal jounces let you run 0 psi unloaded.
Your truck can feel composed empty, then change quickly once substantial pin weight, a slide-in camper, or a heavy work payload settles onto the rear suspension. The two adjustable rear air springs provide up to 7,500 lbs of load-leveling support to help bring a sagging rear back toward normal ride height while reducing sway and bottoming under load. Instead of treating that capacity as a target, you can tune the air pressure to the weight your truck is actually carrying.
A truck built for serious towing or hauling may still spend plenty of miles without that weight on the rear suspension. Internal jounce bumpers let you increase air pressure when a substantial load calls for more support, then reduce the air springs to 0 psi when the extra weight comes off. Those internal jounces protect the air springs against bottoming when suspension travel is used up, so you don't have to maintain air pressure simply to protect the bags during unloaded driving. The result is adjustable support that can work around both sides of your truck's job instead of treating every mile like a loaded one.
Suspension hardware lives where road spray, dirt, and weather reach it, so material choices matter underneath your truck. This kit uses braided stainless steel air lines along with stainless steel fittings, Schrader valves, roll plates, and mounting hardware to add corrosion resistance throughout key parts of the system. That extra durability is focused where it matters, helping the hardware you rely on for load support and pressure adjustment stand up to the environment beneath a working truck.
You'll start by measuring your truck's stock ride height and checking tire-to-frame clearance before removing the factory jounce bumpers, with rear-wheel removal optional if you want more working room. The air spring assemblies mount between the frame and axle, with some brake-line and emergency-brake hardware temporarily moved for clearance before the lower brackets are secured around the axle. Trucks without a fifth-wheel hitch use upper U-bolts around the frame, while trucks with a fifth-wheel hitch require drilling mounting holes for the upper brackets. Once everything is positioned, aligned, and torqued, you'll reattach the brake and emergency-brake hardware, install the passenger-side exhaust heat shield, then route the braided stainless steel air lines with enough clearance and slack for suspension movement before mounting the Schrader valves where they're easy to reach. Adding air bags is a job experienced DIYers can handle, but if you would rather leave it to a professional, we can help you find an installer near you.
The included Schrader valves give you everything you need to adjust the air springs manually, but pulling out an external compressor can get old when your truck regularly switches between demanding loads and unloaded driving. You can add a Pacbrake Bravo Wireless Air Control Kit with XD Compressor (sold separately) to adjust pressure from your phone, check live pressure, and save presets for loads you come back to regularly. Also, you'll be able to choose between filling both air springs together or controlling them independently when the load isn't even side to side. It's an optional upgrade, but one that makes the adjustable part of an air-spring system much easier to use regularly. And it's not the only solution available. There are a variety of compressor options from Pacbrake that might be the perfect fit for your setup.

Hi, everyone. Steve here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at a Pacbrake Alpha XD Pro Airbag Suspension kit. Folks, this includes an internal jounce inside the bag and the upgraded stainless steel hardware package. These are rated at 7,500 pounds of load level capacity and they're a custom fit application, so make sure you're double checking the fit guide to be sure you're getting the right parts the first time over at etrailer. Now, rear suspension has been designed to improve your load support and ride control, and these Alpha XD Pro S Air Springs with the internal jounce are gonna do a great job for you.
Now, I talk about that internal jounce. This is a cutaway of a sample of an airbag. This is not necessarily the same one you're getting, but the idea is the same. You can see that yellow jounce inside of there. That's what is inside of these.
It's a flexible polyurethane bumper. And on top of that, being inside of there, you also have the stainless steel plates, stainless steel braided airlines, and stainless steel hardware that's gonna go on the whole kit. Now obviously your brackets top and bottom and any other brackets that aren't pictured here on the table are gonna be powder coated seal, important about rust, corrosion, anything like that as well. Now, here's an image of pretty much all the hardware and stuff you're gonna get. Keep in mind, you may get some doubles of these that are not stainless.
That's just how the manufacturer packages them up in the stainless steel kits. So you may not use everything. Just make sure you follow the instructions and you should be good to go. Now airbags, as we know, are gonna help reduce rear end sag, body roll and bottoming out when hauling or towing. And if you're squatting in the rear end, airbags can help you get back up to that OEM ride height and again, help get the weight distributed evenly over your towed vehicle and also get your lights pointing in the right direction.
So a lot of times people's headlights are pointing up at the sky whenever they're sagging in the rear. Now, the internal jounce we talked about, that's gonna be great because you can operate these bags at zero PSI, so you don't have to worry about maintaining your factory right quality. That jounce inside of there gonna help that as well. And these are gonna support varying air pressure for varying load conditions. Now today we're just looking at the bags and the stainless steel hardware kit. We do also carry separately, you can purchase air compressors, onboard air tanks, a wide variety of options as well if you're looking for something of that nature to check 'em out at etrailer. Again, we have those as well. So again, folks, these are rated at 7,500 pounds of load leveling capacity. The Pacbrake Alpha XD Pro Airbags, again, stainless steel upgrades. You don't have to worry about rust, corrosion or anything like that for many, many, many years to come. I'm Steven, as always, reach out if you have any questions about this or any other products. And if you don't wanna tackle the install, use our dealer locator over at etrailer.com. Simply enter your zip code and we can help find someone in your area that we're associated with that can do the installation for you. Thanks for watching and have a great day.
