Video Transcript for All You Need to Know About the Putco Red Blade LED Tailgate Light Bar

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Putco 48 inch long Direct Fit Blade LED Tailgate Light Bar. Now, this is a custom fit part, it is designed to fit the 2015 and newer Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon trucks, also fits the 2020 and newer Jeep Gladiator, and the 2005 and newer Toyota Tacoma trucks. Now, because it fits so many different vehicles, I do recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it'll show you if this will work for application. Now, this is a tailgate light bar, which will provide auxiliary tail, stop, turn, and backup light functions, and it installs in the gap at the bottom of your tailgate between the tailgate and the bumper. This light bar uses LEDs, which will produce a nice bright red or white light based on which signal is being used.

Now, at the end of this video, I am going to connect this light to some 12 volt power just to show you how the light bar works. But first, I wanna go over some of the features on it. So we're gonna zoom into the bar itself, and you'll be able to see it uses COB, which is chip-on-board LED technology that'll create a nice, bright, solid panel of light. The LED chips you can see here are mounted close together for nice uniform high intensity light, similar to a lighting panel. It does use a sealed lens and housing unit, which is waterproof, has an IP69K rating to stand up to severe environmental conditions and cleaning methods.

And if you noticed, it's a tinted polycarbonate housing, which provides a nice sleek look when it's installed. Now, this is a simple installation, comes with the included automotive grade 3M tape, the mounting clips, the connectors, and it also comes with this quick-connect custom fit wiring harness, which will plug into your vehicle's existing light connections, and on the other end, has this 4-way plug that the light bar itself will plug into, so there's no cutting or splicing of wires. Application, again, this is for mid-size trucks, total length, it's 48 inches long, the width of it is only 5/8 of an inch, height, only 3/8 of an inch tall. Now, I did wanna mention on the backup light, which is the cool white color when it comes on, it does give an output of over 3,000 lumens, so I am gonna show you that. So basically, right now, we have it hooked up to our 12 volt power.

I'm gonna go ahead and turn on that power and you'll be able to see. I'm gonna go ahead and turn off the overhead lights to help you see. This would be the taillight function or the running lights, so basically, when your taillights or running lights are on, you're gonna get a solid red LEDs all the way across the light bar, and then when you apply your brakes, you'll be able to see that it'll get brighter just like your brake lights will get brighter. And then to show you the turn signal, if we do the passenger's side turn signal, you'll see the row of red lights will activate as the turn signal's activated, and then when you go to the driver's side, it'll be the same way. You'll be able to see when you activate your driver's turn signal, same way, you'll get a row of red lights that'll give you the turn signal.

And then the last feature we talked about is the backup lights, so when you do go into reverse, your backup lights will come on and you'll be able to see, as I was mentioning, you'll get the whole light row of bright cool white light, and as I mentioned, its output is about over 3,000 lumens, so it will make sure that people do see you when you go into reverse.
