Today we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Vision X headlight bulbs here on 2018 Hyundai Elantra. So now that we have both sides installed, we're gonna go ahead and turn on our headlights and see if we can notice a difference. So here's what it looks like with our new headlights installed. Now, I can definitely say that there is a difference. These lights are a lot brighter than the factory ones that we replaced. So adding these Vision X headlights here to your Elantra, it's gonna be an excellent upgrade for your factory bulbs, allowing you to see better at night.

Now these particular ones are gonna be going into your low beams, which are gonna be the ones that you're gonna be using most. But there's also an option to upgrade your higher beams as well, should you need to do so. Now the bulb type here for lower beams on this vehicle is gonna be 9005. Now, our Vision X bulbs are gonna be, as we said, brighter than the factory bulbs, they have 900 lumen rating. In regards to the color temperature of the light, it's gonna be 4,300.

Now the lumens rating is really gonna most closely translate to the actual brightness of the lights and the color temperature rating is really gonna be sort of the color of the bulb output. We've all seen those vehicles out there with those blue headlights and then we've seen some with a lower, yellow tone. So the color temperature range is pretty much gonna dictate what color that light is. The 4,300 rating of these is gonna produce a nice bright white light. Now one thing people look for in a headlight bulb is obviously brightness.

They wanna get the brightest light possible. Unfortunately, a lot of those very high lumen rating headlight bulbs out there on the market are not DOT approved. So they may be very bright and help you see better at night but they're also gonna be blinding other motorists out on the road. So a lot of those higher, brighter options are not simply gonna be road legal. With these here, the 900 rating of these gonna be perfectly road legal, DOT compliant.

You're gonna get a great visibility at night without blinding everyone else in the eyes. Now that we've gone over 'em a bit, let's show you how easy it is to change these out at home by yourself in your driveway. So the first step for installation, we need to locate the factory low beam bulbs. So if we look, we're gonna first have to open our hood. But if we look at our actual headlights here, you're gonna see two of these little caps on the backside of there. So we have one here on the inside, this is actually for our high beam. The one that we're gonna be replacing is the outside, the one that's tucked back here a little bit further. So what we need to do is, we need to actually spin this cap counterclockwise to remove it. So I'm just gonna reach in here with one hand. Now it can be kinda tight. This one here is pretty tight, so I may need to actually come in here with both hands. But we're basically just gonna spin that cap counterclockwise until we can pop it off. So if yours doesn't pop off once you have it spun all the way, I can tell it's not gonna go anymore, so I'm just gonna come back with my screwdriver there and pry it off. So that rubber gasket there is what's fighting us. So that's gonna keep out water but as you can see here sometimes it can stop us from removing that cap, which is why we just came in there with a notch. Use the screwdriver to remove the cover. So now it's pretty hard to see back in there but basically what we need to do is, we need to unclip the light, so there's gonna be a little connector there. We can come in with our screwdriver. We're just gonna peel that up and then we're gonna push down on that connector there to free it. So there's what that connector looks like there. And again, you're just gonna be prying out on this tab and pushing down. I was actually able to get mine off with a screwdriver in one motion. Now once we have that off, we're gonna be reaching in here for the factory bulb. So this is actually just gonna twist. Once you twist it, it should come right out just like that. Now we're gonna take our new headlight bulb and pretty much just install it using the reverse order that we showed you removing it. Now, one thing I do wanna point out is, you wanna make sure that you don't actually touch the bulb on your headlight bulb there because the oils on your finger can get on there and cause it to burst. So make sure you're not touching the bulb, only the base. And then if you do, make sure you're wearing gloves, that way, again, don't run into issues with the light breaking. So, we're just going to place that bulb through the opening there and then we will rotate it to lock it in place. Now, I understand it's kinda hard to see here because everything is sort of tucked back in the headlight there but it's actually pretty easy. It's only a few motions there. Once you get it rotated downwards, if you just pay attention to the orientation of the one you removed, it's pretty easy to be sure you get it the right way. But now we'll just go ahead and reconnect our electrical plug. And there we have it. Now all that's left to do is to reinstall our cover and then repeat the same process over on the other side.
