You will enjoy how much the sleek look of UWS's Low Profile Series complements the latest designs of today's trucks. The toolbox sits just 3" above the truck bed rails instead of the standard 4," providing a better view out the back window for maneuvering or keeping an eye on your load. The insulated, beveled, single lid opens fully to 90 degrees with the help of two super-duty lift cylinders, which raise the lid and hold it open as you load and unload your gear. Smaller items and tools can be stored conveniently on the divided, sliding tray, ensuring they are readily available for use.

Video Transcript for UWS Truck Bed Toolbox Installation - 2013 Ram 2500

What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we'll be checking out this UWS truck bed toolbox. It's gonna be a low profile and crossover style and we're gonna put it on a 2013 Ram 2500. Right away I wanna get into what I meant by low profile and crossover style. So low profile means it's not gonna sit up that much above your bed rails. It's a little bit over two inches.

So it's still underneath your headrest back there, so it's not gonna block the view when you're looking out the back. And then crossover style means there's a gap down here between the bottom of the toolbox and the bed, so you can still fit longer items in there that you wanna haul. So you don't sacrifice your entire truck bed just to get a toolbox. It's gonna be black powder coat aluminum with a diamond pattern on there. Do I like that That means it's not just the glossy flat black.

This is gonna hold up longer, I feel, with scratches or when you throw something up there on accident and ding it a little bit, it's gonna blend in because of the pattern and it not being just a flat glossy black. Now it's also, being aluminum, it's gonna hold up to the elements just fine. So it being in your truck bed full time isn't gonna bother it at all. Now let's check out the inside of the box. We've got the two latches.

There's gonna be one on the driver's side and passenger side. The driver's side one locks. You got the keys that come with it. So you can turn that, pull that out. And then now the latch won't open the lid, so then nobody else can get in there if they don't have a key.

But unlocking it, we got this little latch you pull on and you can pull on either side when it's unlocked and it'll open and goes up in place on its own. I like that. That's gonna be quicker to get in there and get those tools when you need to get 'em. The gas struts really do help pushing up. You also look on the lid itself you got the foam all around the outside. That's gonna help weather seal it. And another thing I wanna point out about the lid is that it comes down a little bit more over the top. So if it's just closed, this is out on top, it'd be there. But when I push it down, you see it comes down quite a bit more over the top of lid which means the water's not gonna be able to get into the toolbox that way. So as our lid opens with it pushed all the way back in the bed, we don't have to worry about hitting the glass. You can see there's plenty of room in between there not even close to making contact. Looking at the latches, just want to show how they work at the same time in unison. I pull on this lever, it unlocks that one. And the same thing would happen if I went to go use the one on the passenger's side. Something else while we're looking here is this nice guard that guards that rod that connects both of 'em that way, just in case you throw something heavy in there, it doesn't or is not gonna hit the rod and damage it. Taking a look on the inside of the toolbox, gonna have 8.4 cubic feet of space. So that's gonna be great for a bunch of tools to throw in there and store those. Keep 'em all organized or at least all in this one section of your truck, not sprawled out amongst your trunk's bed. Another thing that's gonna be helpful is this tray up top. Now you can pop this off if you don't want it in here. But I think this is pretty useful for maybe your most common used tools. We can set up this way, that way they're right here when you need to grab 'em and this can slide to either side. So if you don't want it here, you wanna get to something underneath, you can just slide it all of the way over, put it on the other side too. You're gonna have screwdriver holders on both sides. So you got the holes here. It's nice that you don't have to take up space in this tray for the screwdrivers or throw 'em down in here. 'Cause that's one of those things you don't kind of want to dig for. You can be right here on the side. Now, one thing I would be careful of is where you put them depending on their size, they could run into the gas strut. Sometimes on these boxes, the gas strut has its own section. Kind of like this to where it'd be sectioned off and you could close it and it wouldn't be bothered. But since this is in line here, it depends on the screwdriver. So you go to close this, it's not gonna be in the way. You'll be just fine. Now, if you we're to put the screwdrivers over here, now when I go to close the lid the gas strut's gonna hit the screwdrivers. So that's just something to look out for, so you don't damage this when you're closing the lid. Installing the toolbox is really easy too. You got this slot right here, here it comes with the hardware you need. So there's gonna be a j hook that goes underneath the bed rails. And then we'll put a flat washer and nut on top of that, tighten down on both sides. And that's how it's installed. It's really easy. You don't have to drill any of your holes. I can shake the whole truck back and forth and you see there's no rattling on this toolbox. Another thing to point out up here at the lid is you can adjust the striker. So if it's not catching quite right down here you can adjust it side to side a little bit if you loosen these up. So that's just something to know. If it gets a little outta whack, the more you use it you can adjust that. Let's go over some measurements top side. It's gonna be 69 inches across, and then 19 and one quarter inch from front to back. Looking down here at the base it's gonna be 61 inches across and 17 inches from front to back. Looking down here, it's gonna be about eight inches of space from the bottom of toolbox to the truck bed. Just wanted to give you that number so you know what kind of items you're gonna slide underneath there, so you can use your whole truck bed. Overall I like this toolbox with the low profile design, not taking up any of the window view, and with the crossover style with that gap at the bottom, I can still throw ladders or longer things in here and still use the truck bed and not sacrifice it just to have a toolbox. But with the toolbox, keeps all my tools nice and organized up here and not scattered about in the bed of the truck. I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out and I hope this helps..

After 2 weeks I finally got my toolbox this is good for a 2001 Ford ranger stepside it doesn't say it would fit but I measured it before I bought it had one little ding in the corner but I touched it up with spray paint overall it's an excellent toolbox and it fit perfectly this is originally for a Chevy S10 but I measured it and it fits good I would recommend this to anyone who owns a Ford ranger stepside! Check out the pictures you can see how well it fits! It is hard to find a toolbox that fits a Ford ranger stepside I used to work in the Marine Corps parts department in the motor pool so I know how to measure parts at first they said this wouldn't fit my truck but I told them I measured it!

Love my toolbox!! I wouldn’t trade for anything. I was a little expensive but I needed it. Thanks a bunch

by:

My UWS Crossover tool box fit great. Only minutes to install. Looks great and needed on my 05 Ford Ranger single cab.

by:

great box much better than one from tractor supply and other places very solid construction you can feel the difference i like it

by:

I've had bed box for almost a year now. So far so good. The finish looks as good as the day I installed the box, which by the way was a snap to install. I'm very happy with this product and glad I didn't go for one of the less expensive products like a few of my buddies did. Most of them have constant problems with their bed boxes. IE: hinges freezing up latch problems and most of all the finishes that aren't holding up.

by:

The tool box works great. Works for what we needed and is low profile.

by:

I've had this tool box for about a year. Its held up well without issue. This replaced a 9 year old tool box from Lowes that cracked at the bed support. So far so good on this one. The locking and opening mechanism works great and is covered so things dont bind it up. The only strange thing is that after a windy snow storm there was snow inside the tool box and I hadn't driven anywhere.

by:

I was so happy to get this for my son. The only one i could find that would fit his ranger at the time. he uses it every day and it works great after one year. packaging , no scratches, and installed so easy that i went and bought me one. would recommend. sorry not much for technology or i would have added photos.

by:

When I purchased the toolbox I forgot to mention that I have a bed liner in my vehicle. Therefore I had to put a 3/4 inch spacer on the top bed rails so the bottom of the toolbox would clear the bed liner over the wheel wells and fuel tank spout. Other then that I really have enjoyed the toolbox and have gotten many compliments as well.

by:

Been happy with my purchase. I gave it 4/5 stars because it arrived with a dent on the lid that I was able to remove with a rubber mallet and a 2x4. The metal inside reflects poor workmanship. There are some sharp edges near the latch mechanism that I discovered firsthand after reaching in there. Aside from those issues it has functioned well and I find the dual lid release latches are convenient.

by:

Fast and friendly service.

by:

Awesome package, looks great, fits perfect. Delivery time excellent

by:

The truck box is a good looking truck box but that’s about all the good I can say about it. The striker for the latch continuously came loose causing the lid not to latch completely and the top to come open going down the road. I fixed this by putting loctite on the nuts holding the striker in place. The gaskets along the lid have completely turned loose and are no longer there. The keys never worked from the first day. Overall not very satisfied with the quality of the box for the price.

by:

Here is a picture of the tool box I ordered, installed on my truck.

by:

nice box looks like in was made for the truck, only thing the tray sliding back and forth but a piece of tape fix that, also light enough to get in and out by myself

by:

I highly recommend etrailer for any trailer or truck parts. I have never worked with anyone that was as knowledgeable and helpful. The process was flawless. Further, after I made my order, they followed up and let me know several times how the order and shipment was progressing.

by:

Top of the line service and product. Very happy with entire transaction. One year later box still looks and performs like new. Thanks

by:

by:

Box fit great. Installed in minutes with no drilling holes in truck. The black finish matched truck perfectly.I like the lid that raises automatic but stops before hitting the cab of the truck.

by:

Good looking toolbox. Sturdy and good quality.

by:

It was delivered just like you said it was on time, it was packaged very well and the product came in great condition perfect.

by:

Use it daily, no problems at all.

by:
