Hi, everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. I just came back from a fun rock climbing adventure with my friends. And what I grabbed for that adventure was the Napier Sportz SUV Tent. That's because we were all crammed into my car, I needed something quick and easy to set up, because my focus was to get to the rocks as soon as possible. So with this tent, we had a great time. So I'm gonna share some of my first impressions from using it.
This tent is available in different configurations. What I have today is the SUV tent with the screen room. But you can also get without the screen room, you can get the Backroadz SUV Tent, and there's a bunch of other products from Napier that are available here at etrailer. But for my first impression of the Sportz SUV Tent, let's get going. The first thing I thought though before the trip even started was that this is pretty heavy.
Fortunately, I did not have to go very far to get to the campsite. I did not quite enjoy the experience, but I was able to do it by myself. For measurements, this was 32 inches wide by 17 inches tall, but that is with the expansion. So there is a zipper over there that allows you to get a little bit more room, so you don't have to pack the tent up perfectly, but you should still try your best to get as tight as possible. So as hefty and heavy as this was as well as how much space this took up inside my vehicle, once I got to the campsite, I realized that it was worth it.
There are three things that really stood out to me. The first was that it was so fast to set up right when we're tired and we didn't have much time to set up campsite. The second is that it gives a lot more space than you would expect from the tent. And the third is that there's a lot of extra bonus features beyond being a basic tent. Now, as an SUV tent, technically, it is one.
Pretty versatile, fits with a lot of different types of SUVs, but it also works really well as a ground tent, which is actually how I used it. When you set up your tent completely, you'll then have four different spaces that you can play with. You have the car space, you have the main room, you have the screen room, and when you set up the rainfly, you'll also have an awning that extends out past the main room. My friends and I actually only use the main room, and that's because our campsite was a little too small. And if we opened up the extra screen room, it would get a little too close to the fire spot. Also, I wasn't able to drive my car onto the camp area, so I didn't need the SUV extension part. This really was just a ground tent. We also didn't install the rainfly, because honestly, we were a little too tired after climbing all day. But there was four of us and we had plenty of space for our sleeping pads, our sleeping bags, all of our gear, our shoes, things like that. In fact, this is gonna be a 10 by 10 room that technically fit six people, but was very comfortable for four adults. And that's what I really enjoyed about this tent. I didn't have to set up all the spaces, I could pick and choose as needed, depending on the situation, the weather, how cold it was, or how much space I needed. The main room was perfect for a camping night. But if we wanted to set up campsite and put all of our gear here in the screen room, that's totally an option too. In fact, adding and removing those spaces is simply a matter of adding or removing your different poles included with your setup. Now, I won't go too much into the set up of this tent, but a quick summary is that the main tent only has eight poles that you need to put together. This extra screen room only has three poles that go together, and it's super fast to remove the poles and collapse the entire thing if needed. And if you know which poles go where and you have a good idea of how it all sets up, it will take about 15 minutes to get this all ready to go. Easy to set up, lots of room. Now, let's talk about how it has so many random, but helpful bonus features. Where you are right now is actually in the hatch looking in towards the main room. And just from that view, you can see that we have some different panels. A lot of the panels are both doors as well as windows. So if you want the breeze, you want the light, but you don't want the bugs inside of your tent, this mesh will keep that all out. And if you look down, you'll see the part of the tent that attaches to your SUV. So you have a lot of versatility here with the elastic end to fit over your hatch and over your bumpers. But you have all kinds of straps and zippers and things to pull on. You even have this little tailgate latch that fits right into the hook of your tailgate, again, adding to that extra versatility. Now, that tailgate extension isn't as immediately sealed as the rest of the tent is, so you do have to be a little bit more conscious about making sure all of the extension is connected and wrapped around your car. Fortunately, there's plenty of straps to help you out with that. And as I was camping, I also had to consider that it was really cold and I wanted to conserve heat. So that's something to think about too. If you're someone who car camps and you feel like the car just gets a little toasty, you can always open up this door and have the mesh window if you need more air flow. But during the winter time, if you have people sleeping in the main room and people sleeping in the car, then having that insulation in the form of the door is very helpful for conserving heat. And there's just so many other extra fun features to this tent, like a really good tarp construction that keeps out the cold. You have carabiners up top, so you can attach lights. You have different little storage pockets to store all of your small gear throughout the night. And there's more things to it too, like add-ons and attachments and things included that I'm not gonna get into into this video, because you can get information about that here on our website, or check out the full review where it really goes into specs and measurements, things like that. But as for my first impressions after using this tent, I really enjoyed it. I made it where it for worked best for me, because I needed something quick, easy, but also, durable, so that I could have a good night rest and then I could climb again the next day. But if I needed all the extra room, it was there for me. And if you're ready to go out on your adventure and you're not really interested in looking deeper into the specs, you wanna let it surprise you, well, the good news is there's a lot to discover with this tent. And chances are, with its versatility, it will fit your different adventures, 'cause you can customize it as needed. Now, this is available right here at etrailer. Check it out, check out our videos, our pictures. We really wanna try to get the best fit for you. And we have all those other add-ons, attachments, and recommendations just to really fill out your adventure. But today, this was a look at the Napier Sportz SUV Tent at etrailer.com. My name is Evangeline, I hope you enjoyed my first impressions, and I hope you enjoyed this journey.
