When security and protection matter most, the RetraxPRO MX delivers. The cover is built from 1" thick, impact-resistant aluminum slats that lock down tight to keep your gear safe from weather and theft. The matte black finish resists scratches and sun damage, so it always looks clean while holding up against rain, snow, and road debris. Weather stripping and foam seals keep moisture and dust out, and the cover even overlaps the tailgate to block leaks. With a 500 lb evenly distributed weight capacity, it’s tough enough to handle heavy snow or whatever the road brings.

Some covers make it a chore to reach what’s in your bed, but this one slides open smoothly with a sealed ball-bearing roller system that never needs lubrication. The pop-up locking handle lets you open or close the cover from either side of the truck with one hand, and you can stop and lock it at any point along the rails to secure part of your load while carrying oversized gear. When you need the whole bed, the cover retracts into a compact canister that takes up minimal space.

The spiral track inside the canister keeps the cover from rubbing against itself, so it won’t wear out or bind. Two integrated drain tubes route water out through the bed floor to keep the canister dry and free from mildew. The angled bottom design frees up extra space underneath, perfect for long or bulky items. With no hinges, joints, or springs to fail, the retracting mechanism stays reliable through years of use in rain, heat, or snow.

The RetraxPRO MX gives your truck a finished, streamlined appearance. The low-profile rails sit only 1" above the bed for a sleek, flush-mounted look that reduces wind drag and can even improve fuel economy when closed. The flush locking handle and overlapping top panel blend smoothly into the body lines so the cover looks integrated, not added on.

Installation is straightforward—no drilling required. The rails clamp directly to the bed rails, and the pre-assembled canister drops in place with a second set of hands. Once the rails are squared and tightened, you simply attach the drain tubes and you’re ready to go. It’s a solid, secure fit that’s ready for long-term use without any custom tools or modifications.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the RetraxPro MX Hard Tonneau Cover in matte black. You can upgrade your old tonneau cover and not have to worry about any snapping or hook and loop connections. The RetraxPro MX Hard Tonneau Cover is the best way to cover up your truck bed. One of it's great features is, it can be locked anywhere along the rails you please. It's perfect for keeping your gear dry, covering up that fifth wheel head and you can even use it to secure your elongated cargo. The latch itself doubles as a handle. When you're ready to lock it, it sits flush within the cover and you can lock it up with the included keys.
When you've done that you can put the cover over top. The whole thing rolls up into the flush mounted box for a low profile design. It only takes up about 12 inches of space behind your cab. It's a simple clamp on installation and the rails only sit about an 1-1/4" high on top of our truck bed rails. Here on the inside they take up about 1-3/4". The sealed ball bearing rollers within the cover make opening and closing easy.
And because they're sealed, they're maintenance free. The whole thing is made out of an industrial strength aluminum, it's gonna keep out the elements and it can support distributed loads of up to 500 pounds. When used with the locking tailgate, it's furthers your security. The whole thing is UV protected and it features a limited lifetime warranty. It's an easy no drill installation, it simply attaches to your truck bed rails with the provided clamps. And that's going to complete our look at the RetraxPro MX Hard Tonneau Cover.

After about a year owning this cover, I still would buy it again. If you set it up right in the first place, it will work flawlessly. The locking mechanism still works great. The rolling part still works great. Aside from a solid cover, this is the most secure cover I have ever had. It does get some drips of water inside after washing the truck but its not enough to worry about, even if you had a bed full of stuff.

So on the plus side, love how it opens all the way up. When were loading the bed for travel, I need it fully open. Downside is the amount of room the canister takes up and the water as previously mentioned. Still quite easy to use!

Install looks great Jesse! We couldn’t agree more about the instructions. Honestly, unclear instructions are exactly why we started making our own install videos many moons ago, because seeing it done can make all the difference. It’s good to hear the cover feels solid and slides smoothly once installed. Your notes on water sealing and debris are fair, especially with RamBox-equipped beds and tailgate fitment. We appreciate you sharing your experience, and we hope it continues to serve you well over time.
